I am blunt. There isnt any use in wasting key strokes or breath by beating around the bush and playing games...

while your idea sounds noble in a eutopian society, it just aint gonna happen here in the US of A. HE was wronged by the police. They failed to correctly uphold the law as it was written. I'm sure the person would most definitely not have parked there had it been clearly marked as a handicap spot.

You talk as if the driver purposefully mowed down the sign, backed up and then proceeded to erase the marking in the street! He didnt even know it was handicapped.

I have an idea? How about the town or city he lives in stop paying thier officials big time money for small time work and pay a bit of money to repaint the handicapped markings and street markings? Why should he repaint it at his expense after he was wrongly given a ticket for parking in a, for all intents and purposes, unmarked handicapped spot?

Yeah its right! to deny a handicapped driver a parking spot wether there is a sign or not, you,d think the symbol would do it for most people unless your handicapped yourself,if you couldnt see it maybe you need glasses, its unsafe to drive if you cant see whats on the road in front of you. - Wee Wet Willy
Guys, avoid making the mistake of expecting logical or useful comments from Wee Wet Willy. His core purpose here is not to teach and learn -- it's to generate conflict and discontent until he's once again deleted or reset.

He's eased up a bit after each of his dozen or more RR resets, but eventually the bad genes and/or poor upbringing kick back in and then he's at it again.

He's been temporarily or permanently removed from more RC forums than you can probably name. If not for RR's charity he'd be long since forgotten.

Only a fool is proud of his ability to offend -- and Willy is among the proudest.

I just can't stand topics like this. You have a bad run in with the police and the world is ending. Police are people too and have bad days, they have a very unforgiving job that is scrutinized in every way by everyone. Seems they can do no right, no matter how good a job they do. Too many people bash the police and many have no clue as to how difficult the job is. Too many people blame the police for what they did. If you choose to violate the law and happen to get caught own up to it. Post what you do for a living so that we can bash your employment choice. Oh and as for the original post....if you feel that you were treated inappropriatly by the officer file a personnel complaint. Internal affairs is obligated to investigate your complaint.

They chose to go down that career path. They werent forced into it. When I have a bad day, i dont take it out on other people and threaten to take them to jail. Its one thing to be rude but quite another to threaten to take people to jail and basically abuse the trust the public has placed with you. It is truly unfortuneate that police officers are rude. it only takes one incident to change someones mind permanently about police officers. Too many police officers speak to people as if they were god! Thats just not right.

willy, nice picture, unfortuneately, thats not what gets painted in the parking spot in most places. the pain is just blue and consists only of the wheelchair and the person, nothing else. Unfortuneately, blue on a black background is not very contrasting. Combine that with dirt, water, rain, and rubber and it becomes very very easy to miss the decal on the tar!

The poster said he parked in the spot not knowing it was a handicapped spot. Pull your head outta your a$$!

I do ride at night with my lights on. Have you ever heard of reflection? Thats right, that's what happens when you drive at night with hard rain. idiot! Im willing to bet hat youve never driven in New England much less driven in the United States. When it rains where I live hard enough, no amount of lighting will help you see the lane striping. you simply stay to your side of the road and follow the side. Thats about all you can do...

Please stop telling me how to drive. Its insulting!

I think I am done responding to anything you have to say... Mr. Righteous! Yah right!

LOL I am really getting a kick out of this thread lol. I find that the topic of this thread went way off topic lol. The person starting the thread has stated more then once he takes responsibility for his actions of breaking the law but is upset with the rudness and disrespect the cop gave him. I am a retired proffesional driver. I cant even begine to count the millions of miles I have OTR. I have dealt with cops in all states. SOme have been real nice some have been real jerks. You are going to find in all apsects of life there are rude jerks be it cops doctors waiters you name it. If you treat a idiot back the same way well then your now down to thier level. I have filed complaints agaisnt a couple of cops for the way they treated people. I had one at a chicken coop (thats a scale for the none truckers) pull me out of my tractor and slam me to the ground cuff and stuff me in a car reason? I was 50 pounds over on my sterring axle and he said he had suspesion of drugs in the tractor. after a total search of the truck and found no contraband I was released 7 hours behind scedule ruined shirt from the blood from my busted lip and bloody nose. I won the case in court and the cop was fired and had to pay for my medical bills yes I went to a ER to make sure my nose wasnt broke. But I still dont catagorize all cops as aholes as a couple here have. Have I broke the law sure who hasnt speeding not wear a seatbelt over weeight on a axle I can go on and on. But even if breaking a law like the person who started this thread did knownely by not wearing a seatbelt does not give the arresting officer the right to be rude or disrespectful. I wasnt there so I can only go by what he says here now if this guy was rude to the cop or showed any signs of frustration that could be mistrued as being a smart a$$ towards the cop well most will respond by being aholes. I cant say he did or didnt I was not there. Attitude works both ways. Cop pulls you over and walks up and a person goes off on the cop well expect to get it back or worse. As far as complaining as long as you were respectful to him didnt cop a attitude towards him first then yea file a complaint as most citys do not want thier officers to be sarcastic or rude towards the public it does leave them with a black eye. Trying to get out of the ticket wont win it and no sens of fighting it pay the fines and learn from it. I do agree with the thread starter though its not fun to be made a fool for no reason.

Like I said, get over your holier than thou attitude. I have lived here for 32 years. You haven't. So, how could you possibly know more about the US than I do?

You are not as smart as you think you are. You think like a Nazi, that your thoughts and actions are superior to all others. You think you can do no wrong. As a matter of fact, you are so stupid, that you can't even comprehend how dumb you really are!

We should repeal the seatbelt law. Smart people already wear them.
This law only serves to protect stupid people. Saving the lives of stupid people allows them to breed with more stupid people creating hybred stupid people. Now we need more laws to protect people who are the next generation of stupid people. Phuck that.

Unfortunately, the "stupid" people who don't wear them ( includes me sometimes) are the ones who hurt others by not being in control (or even inside) their vehicle in an accident.

Those same "stupid" people also set a poor example for for others, like the children in the car. This leads to generations of what I like to call "learned stupidity"

I wear mine all the time now. When I don't, my teenage children remind me that I am being stupid!

Not sure how it is in all states, but here there has to be TWO handicap signs for it to be a legal handicap parking spot. Due to constant changing of parking lots, OLD painted on the ground signs are not enough to signal whether it is a handi-parking spot, a sign eye level is also required.

Speaking of handicap people,
Arguing with willy is like being in the special Olympics, even if you win, your still a …………… well, you get the picture!
Just dont let yourself stoop to his level.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Lets not forget that the point of the original post. It was not what does or does not constitute a handicapped spot, but rather that, at times, the local officials do not even know the laws that they are enforcing.

Hey Willy,

actually, that wasnt the original post. that was an anecdotal story but I think its still on topic.

More often than not, the law enforcers do not know the law, they only think they know it which is worse than accepting that you dont know the law...
