I have a problem with them being refered to as liberals when they are in fact socialists
Actually, the proper term now is progressive. How can you expect him to understand what a liberal is when he doesnt even know what he is. He is in the midst of an identity crisis, as most libtards are. Why else would he invent the asshat.

You really don't know what a conservative is. You are too naive to see that most so called liberals are not liberals at all. They are socialists.
You maybe right Worstplace, just like most CON's are really Fascists.

"Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and other societal interests subordinate to the needs of the Nation, and seeks to forge a type of national unity, usually based on, but not limited to, ethnic, cultural, or racial attributes. Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, authoritarianism, statism, militarism, corporatism, populism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, racism and opposition to economic and political liberalism. Nevertheless, contrary to popular belief, racism is not a requirement of Fascism."

Looks to me like they qualify under at least 12 of the 14 points.

Finally! Sealerman is starting to see the light Consider this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism

"To put conservatism in a bottle with a label is like trying to liquefy the atmosphere … The difficulty arises from the nature of the thing. For conservatism is less a political doctrine than a habit of mind, a mode of feeling, a way of living."
-R.J. White

A few core beliefs of American conservatives:
- Bringing back a smaller less intrusive government.
- Political Power should belong to the States, Not the federal government.
- Belief in the individual person, not grouping people together by race, religion, sexual orientation or gender.
- No taxation without representation.
- No laws respecting or disrepecting the establishment of religions
- The free market system. It has always worked and always will.

Now, would anyone care to show me what real conservatives are or have been in power over the last 50 years?
Conservatives have not been in power in my life time. If they were, we wouldn't be 9 trillion dollars in debt and the federal government wouldn't have near the control that it does. What America needs is a true conservative congress and president. Carry on

Sounds like Ron Paul is our man. Only one running that has any sense.
Seems like he has some of the big boys nervous. Not getting much from the media.

Has anyone noticed that the country is always going to Hell in a hand basket. Jimco in your younger days weren't the elders of your time screaming the same thing? That is about the only constant that
I can ever find in political discussions. It was always better forty years ago. Even my Grandfather who grew up during the Depression would say that.

Your Constitional rights have been destroyed in less than 8 years, and you want to damn someone for bringing it up???
Get grip. Maybe "Off Topics" ain't your bag.

You still did not answer my question. When you were younger weren't the adults of that time screaming that the government was stripping away their rights, and at the same time saying that the younger generation was going to run the country into the dirt. It seems to me that it is always like that.

Yep, can't argue with that. And, it will continue thru the next generation., Whats happening this time, is all the stuff the older guys said would happen,. Especially,President Dwight David Eisenhower. He warned us of this Military/Industrial complex , as he was leaving office. Has taken quit a few years, but now you see it.Honey, where's the check book, it's Fedex again

I guess my point is, if I have one, that at times it is all a matter of perspective. My in-law's generation would of told you that the segregation of the public school system was the end of this country. How dare the Federal government dictate where and with whom their children attend school. There were riots in the streets, bombings, etc. But now those are considered the good old days?

No CK. Good old days ended the day JFK got assassinated. Once LBJ took over, the military/industrial machine took over, IE: Vietnam. Ten years of what:??? Nothing but big bucks for the war contractors and kick backs to our officials. Everyone made money. Then comes 1964, bussing of your kids to inferior schools, total dumbing down of our education system, and all the social ills that you see today.
We used to lead the world in education excellence, and today we rank 19th??? Something wrong with that program.
Seems like we have kinda been going in the crapper, since the government has gotten more and more in our business. When was the last time you spanked one of your kids, to get his/her attention? Better be careful, might end up in jail.
Little things like that, and it just keeps getting worse and worse.
We have lost the way, somewhere, and if it continues with guys like Bush, we will really resemble the Soviets. Have you counted the cameras looking at you, wherever you go. Hell, I bet you could not park with your girlfriend anymore, without being on candid camera. And thats in the woods.
Anyway, we have lost a lot, and its going to take years to retrieve what has been stolen in the last 8 years. Only "We The People" can do it, and the ballot box is where its at. I for one, am not voting for the first incumbent this time, and will not vote for a big money candidate, IE: Clinton, Juliani, etc. If they are taking big contributions, then they are owned when they hit the office.

Cute, the difference is Conservatism is a personal value. Something that liberals and socialists cannot possibly understand. Everything about liberalism, ie socialism, is the pursuit of the "common good." It takes all personal responsibility out of the equation. That is exactly what most conservatives hold as a core value, responsibility for ones self, not dependence upon someone else. Meaning we are big boys, we can take care of ourselves and we know when to care of those who are truly in need. We dont need the "intellectual elite" to tell us what we need."There is a fine line between cutting edge and bleeding edge.."

Read the two following, they are both great insights into our education system. One has more religious overtones but the underlying premise of both is the same. And its not solely because of government intervention, although that was the tool. Which I do not agree with by the way just to clarify. The federal govt has no business in education. You want to know what the real problem is, do some reading on outcome based education. Its a scary thing.
