You mean throw? And I dont think it is a good idea, especially the Saudi Arabia part. We should continue to support Israel and helping Egypt may be a way for us to get the hell out of dodge. I dont think we have to increase spending to do that though, I think we should cut funding to other nations and curb some of this domestic spending for sure. As for Saudi Arabia, they need more pressure, not more money.

And surely you jest, you of all people after some of our little tyrades couldnt possibly believe I would ever think raising taxes is a good idea. And if he is the chuckle nuts you think he is what makes you think he would raise taxes? Seems to me the present course of action suits him fine, more debt. Or are you going back on what you have said previously?

Helo, taxes are more than what these scumbags in DC ask us to give them right now. Every dollar they spend has our ass as collateral, where do you think this money comes from?

Yea lets cut funding at home because everything is running just fine here right.

LMAO, yea we can presure them just like we can presure China. Damn it's hard not to call you an idiot Helo, but I won't because I'm trying to show some self control. I hope you appreciate it.

To me that is the problem. Too much government. They do not do a good job. The last thing they need is more money. Pretty soon I will have a government sponsored breakfast concierge that is going to tell me how I should eat my cereal.

You know, it is really amazing: A country that cannot take care of its own problems at home, is in the nation building business????
Today, 8 million Iraqis' need aid,??? Do What????We, in the US, probably have over 50 million that need aid.!!!
Go look under the bridge, nearest you , and count the folks that need aid, whether financial, or mental. The greatest country in the world, has homeless people???? What gives. The elderly of this country, for the most part, have to sell everything they have ever worked for, to exist , in their later years. ????
Something is wrong with this picture.
Im 63, and still paying School Taxes. Give me a break. Got a 428.00 house note, and 200.00 a month more, in taxes???? This picture is totally wrong. And it goes on, and on , and on.
But, we can piss off billions , in places that we don't belong, and no one bitches?????
Time for a major change of government policies. Ron Paul , might be it .

Damn it man, 11K, cut me some slack. You sure don't want my job.
In my part of the country, thats gone from valuation of 65000, 5 years ago, to 138.00 valuation today. Texas schools are the problem. Our lottery, was supposed to fund the school districts, but didn't work that way.Seems like someone decided, after we voted, to put the money in the general fund, instead of the school fund. So, we have steadily endured the tax increases. Bush was our governor, imagine that.

I guess he missed all the sarcasm in my comments. Sealer must not be feeling well.
Im 63, and still paying School Taxes. Give me a break.
And not that I am advocating the federal government over see it because I think they are the biggest problem with our school system I do think this is one area where we should as a nation spend money. That is one thing our founding fathers saw a need for, and educated populace to make informed decisions.

As bad as things are think if you werent paying those taxes how bad it would be if we didnt care that the drop out rate in some areas is almost half. One thing that just chaps my asshat is the notion that a lottery is going to solve all of our education problems. Too bad they dont realize what the problem is, we are paying for every kid in TN to go to college. Shame that our primary education system cant prepare them for it so half end up dropping out. What a wonderful way to spend a buck.

One thing I do have to commend out current governor for, and Sealer you will love this because he is a democrat. He has partnered with Dolly Partons non profit to provide books to all children from age 2-5, one a month I think. And using private money and donations to do it. They get it, too bad they arent fixing whats wrong with the system we have.

Chris: What really pisses me off with this school stuff is the fact that we are spending more money per student, and they are being taught by teachers that just should not be there. Most of em are there for a check, and screw the kids.
When I was in school, it had some teachers that made your day. You felt like you were learning something, and then some of em would hand out a classroom assignment, and hit the teachers lounge for the whole period. I fear, that the drop out rate is caused more by those teachers, than by ethnic, or domestic problems.
Another problem with Texas schools. Grade level of the work being taught. Most kids in the 7th grade are doing 5th grade level work. and most of it is, here do this for this period, and we will grade it tomorrow. Teacher gone, kids left alone to float on their own. If a kid needs help, sorry. End result, kids say F it, and bye the 9th grade, they are wanting to quit. Only lever that the state has over em , in Texas, if you are not in school and under 18 yrs old, no drivers license.
Been thru the whole deal with my youngest stepson. Thought he was doing great, report card was always A & B. Then, one day, he left his homework laying on the bar. I picked it up, looked it over, and damned near had a strokel; This kid is in the 8th grade, and Im looking at 4th grade, Dick and Jane stuff. Went to the school, had a talk with his teachers. Hell, they all thought he was doing great.
Next day, checked his a$$ out and put him in private school.
Hell of a change. Suddenly those A & B grades dropped, and he had to start studying. Didn't like it much, but next time you questioned him on subject matter, he had an answer, and it was usually right.
Not a cure for everyone, but it worked for me.

I would think, that 10.000.00 per student , per year, should be doing pretty good. Thats the latest figures that I can find for Texas. New York is the highet at 14,000.00. The main problem remains with the teachers. If they have no interest, then what do you expect the kids to do????
In my opinion, school funding should be right up there with road and bridge funding.

More like mis-management of funds. Ohio school district spends $8, 754 per student. We have some really great public schools and some really terrible public schools too. I agree with jimco. If the teachers don't give a crap, why would the students care? I literally slept through high school. Out of about 20 teachers that I had in high school, there were only two teachers that actually made their courses interesting. I finished all of the college prep courses before graduating. However, I was so bored that I nearly dropped out a couple of times! If it weren't for some encouragement from my family, I would have...

Jimco,
Austin public schools spend $5,219 per student. The average school expenditure in the U.S. is $6,058.
