As you have both radios, maybe you could compare the range?

From what I can gather, all export Spektrums - as well as most in the USA - are 100 mW. However, they did apparently release a few in the States that are about 300 mW.

If you direct imported one from the States, then it is possible -though unlikely - that you could get a high power one.

I would have thought that the only difference radiating 300mW would make would be to run the battery down quicker!

If you have bought one in the UK with a CE sticker on it, it will be 100mW.

The modules are convenient, but you don't get the full benefit of the encoding logic with them. The transmitter has to be set to PPM, as this is the lowest common denominator, so although the signal will be as robust as a DX-7, you won't get the protection from selecting the wrong model that you get with the DX-7, nor will you get the "priority encoding" of the swashplate channels. On the other hand, you will get all the usual PCM-9 benefits!

Roll on JR's 2.4 GHz stuff.....!

Well hopefully I will be meeting with Paul Beard at the UK NATS in a few weeks time. So assuming that certain documentation is in place, I'll be in a better position to find out more about the Spektrum system.

All I need to do is get Uncle Kevin to get me a ticket !

I just read on a different forum that the X9303 have just started to ship from Horizon. I havent had confirmation of that yet ! So hopefully we will see the 9XIII (?) this side of the pond in the not too distant future.

They are going into production soon but its subject to availability of the Spektrum chips from Horizon/Spektrum.

I think its going to be Nov/Dec before we see them. Its new name is the DSX9.

Yes it should be virtually identical.

As far as I am aware, the only difference you will spot is the short antenna and the fact that there is no longer a module housing. And of course the new front fascia label.

Did you meet Paul beard in the end?
Any interesting news, what was his take on the UK/Europe power limits?

Thanks

Tim.
