Shuttle Flying yesterday!
Hey, I still fly a Shuttle. It is a Plus 2 with the flybarless conversion from the new flybarless electric kit. I just ordered the parts and kept it nitro. I use an AR7200bx with the new firmware so I can use the engine backplate sensor for the governor. Flying a Shuttle with a governor is def the way to go. No more worrying about throttle curves. On my DX8 I just flip a gear switch to three positions to choose what RPM I want and go. Much quieter and the slower head speeds make it easy to handle even in tight quarters. Also, I get 15 minutes per tank. I wonder if I can still get those floats for the Shuttle?

The next step this summer is to install an FPV system.

LOL
That is a cool video. Nice flying, very under control. Nice water landing. Any oil slicks? Put some of those pool noodles on there. I don't think the float set is around anymore. Been some time since I saw those.

with the correct exhaust fitted it is possible to give the engine crankcase a wash playing around in water with a shuttle
you do have to be careful not to catch the tail blades in the water

floats
I found some floats made by heli-max but I may make my own. I'm thinking about some of those long and thin aluminum aerosol bottles that hairspray and other products come in....

You know float flying might be ideal for sport hells because of the wealth of flat landing spots void of spectators. I just hate to think of what a splash down would do to my expensive electronics!!

One more thing: I've noticed that the tail rotor is not geared to the main rotor. This will make autogyro very tricky! What gives? Don't all modern helis have always-on tail rotors? I haven't had to do one yet but I think it would be a problem. If I were any higher than 20 feet up! I might be able to get it down but there would be no usable cyclic control.

In an auto, the tail follows the nose. Yes today all tails are driven and the Shuttle had/has still a slipper clutch that goes under the main gear. With no driven tail, no piro autos, backwards, etc. But autos in general are no problem. I have an idea for a driven tail for the Shuttle, just need finalize some specs then find a way to get it made. Still no problems, only solutions, governed by MARSHALL AMPLIFICATION. Its not hard at all to do an auto without a driven tail
you just do it into the wind

The heli will also weathervane into the wind easily
when doing a for real one
ageing is manditory maturity is optional

I have a shuttle zxx that a friend of mine gave me.
It's in very good condition. The only thing i need to get it up in the air is the cone shaped brass collar that goes over the crankshaft of the OS engine. Does anyone have this brass collar.

Just bought a brand new unused Shuttle ZXX

This is my second shuttle. I bought a shuttle plus ages ago when they came out, and sold it after a few flights as I was more into fixed wing planes at the time.

I miss it, and love the history and old schoolness of the shuttle :-) , so I went looking for a new one and I got lucky.
A guy bought this ZXX ages ago, but never found the time to fly it, so it was just assembled and sat at his place for years untouched.

Unfortunatly, the plastic canopy had tured yellow from UV light damage, so I decided to paint it white again, and I did not like the "modern" look of the multi colored stickers that the ZXX came with at the time. So I decided to buy some colored vinyl sheets, and cut out an old Shuttle Z design to get the reto look

Had to replace all of the hirobo ball links, because all exept two had a fine hairline crack along the pushrod threads.....so they split open.

I fired up the OS 32 SX-H for the first time ever, and it just ran great.
Just have to install the gyro, and tidy up the wires, and its ready to go
