On my X2 when I use my 4900 FlightPower packs I keep the tray as it normally is but I move the receiver pack (I use the FlightPower 3000Rx packs) to the rear left, that way it balances both fore/aft and left right much better. It is secured with velcro so the move take about 30 seconds complete.

It is amazing how the extra weight of the 4900s doesn't seem to effect the X2's peformance.

Im not using RX pack

Main problem is that Airthunderbatteries are 1 cm higher (poking out to the right) so it hits the canopy alot, making the canopy so off center it hits the swash..

I think that will apply for the new FP 6s1p 4900 packs too.

Your mod is a good idea. There is certainly enough room to move the plate back 1cm with the right spacers. The only thing left would be to mod the left canopy stand off and make it 1cm shorter, but thats no big deal.

You may have to stiffen the spacers up by the gyro plate though, to stop any twisting in flight with the weight of the packs on the tray.

Damn Airthunders they had to make them fat didn't they!!

I run the new 4900 FlightPower packs for set manoeuvres and they do push on the canopy, however I can just get away with the canopy not hitting my swash but it is close.

The 5000 AirThunder Packs won't fit the Razor for sure, but they make my belt drive raptor sing. The brand new HV110 went south and was using a 55-10-32 the first time I flew these packs and it quit while a buddy was putting them through some hard 3D.
If they were as thin as the 3700 FP or even if they would make a pack with lower mah the size of a 3700 mah, when I ask about that several months ago they said they couldn't.

Here is the mod done.
Here is a simple modification to let the Ion-X2 handle bigger batteries, specially such as the new Airthunder 6s1p 5000 packs and flightpower 6s1p 4900.

Im using 10 mm spacers between the battery plate and the frame, and using 20mm screws.

With this the canopy fit perfectly, I didnt cut down the canopy spacer since it was a tad short for my canopies to start with.
