When you plug your battery in, does the ESC initialize? If if it a Castle or Align, it has a series of beeps (kind of like music) when initializing.

Or, do you get those beeps after playing with the throttle some? If that is the case, you need to lower the endpoint on your throttle channel. I would actually try that either way.

I had the same problem. . . According to Align USA RC you left your ESC on too long during setup . .

The ESC over heated and the programming has been lost. . . .

I had to send my 35X back for replacement.

What Wingman said. Since you're eventually able to get it to initialize my thought is that you're not turning it on at full negative throttle.

Try lowering the lowest curve point for Normal on your throttle curve to a negative value, if possible. Or if your radio has a throttle hold function, put it in the negative range and power on in that mode.

I've got an ATX transmitter that I use from time to time that I have to jam down on the throttle to get an ESC to arm with.
