All you Trex owners.... I have a few questions for the trex gang members. I'm looking into buying either a 450 or 600 electric. Can anyone tell me what kind of flight time you're getting from your LiPos on either machine. Also, which machine do you all like better? I know some believe bigger is better, but I'm interested in hearing some informed opinions!

the 600 is in a completely different cost league WRT chargers and
cost of batteries. you need to figure that in. |

Lots of information in the electric/Trex section. Do a search and start reading. You will find that these subjects have been covered many times. Both are very good helis, have fun..... JRjoe..... Indoor plumbing??? No, we don't need that!!! |

I'm a beginner to heli's too. I started with a sim (Phoenix) and a Blade CCP a year ago... Don't go small! Small heli's attract the ground!.. I have a T-Rex 600e that I flew for the first time yesterday. With a year on the sim and with the Blade, I was able to hover and fff on my first outing, solo...(bad idea to solo..I live in the sticks so help is few and far...I coulda used help, but I spent 30 years in planks (airplanes)so I have a grasp on head in, head out control) I now have 3 charges through the bird, and I am loving every minute! Expect 5 minutes of flight with the 600. YES batteries are expensive now.... So were computers 3 years ago... Cars (the real ones),phones,Everything will run on batteries in a few years! Soon you will see 8-10 minute flight times on batteries in the 22v 5000mah range. |

Speaking from experience. . .For both models with 100% throttle you should expect to see around 5mins . ..Nas, |

...not sure....never measured it. and this is while carrying a camera mount. 9 minutes on 3s. TP2100s. Medusa 28-32-3400...11T. I don't even change pinions. No 3D. Just hovering and flying around taking pictures. |

It's working great for me. Also using 335mm blades. 4s is much more powerful and easily lifts my Cannon S70. I use 3s just for casual flying around. I live at 8600ft. |

Give up 3D and go back to noobie type flight guys. We have all the fun! As a rule I fly for 8 minutes on each pack. Of course that's just hovering, circuits and maybe a loop or two if I can muster up the cajones. What I have is pretty much a scratch built SE V1,430L,CC45,12t pinion,TP 2200 3S Extremes, 315 Pro blades. I have never put back more than 1500mah after a flight. It's usually just over 1200mah if I haven't done any loops. I could probably safely go 10 minutes with the way I fly. (like the old man that I am ) 3D is something I can see. Not something I can fly. JoeI reject your reality and substitute my own........... |

I agree...it's smooth flight for me. I've set up my machine for taking pictures. I'm also using a CC4...no governor. Micro Heli blade grips, Park 6v BEC, 9650 and 401, Gorilla paddles, tail blades and landing gear. Knowing I have extra power near the end of my flights with 4s is very comforting while carrying my camera mount. I've flown a friends 600. Sure it's great!...and flys really smooth....but darn expensive for batteries, etc. 450 SE for me. |

4-6 minutes of sport flying and mild 3d just to be sure not too puff my batteries. Rather fly a shorter flight then blow batteries and holes in my pockets trying to get longer flight times.
would like to try a 4s on my 450 and see how it performs for sport and mild 3dAlohaLes Maui RC Modeler's, Big Island RC Helis, http://www.facebook.com/mauirc |

I get 6 minutes consistently with my Trex450 using 80% capacity.Get the 450. It's a lot cheaper to start with. Parts often come in packages of three and are very reasonably priced. You can very easily set it up to learn with. You can take the twitchiness out of it. They hover rock solid when properly setup and trimmed. Also, it's not a heli you tend to get rid of. It's a keeper. You can fly it where most larger helis cannot be flown safely. Most of my friends have a Trex450 for practice and those occasions where you don't have the time to drive to the field.Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep |
