reduce throttle and it just falls???
Hi,

just wondering if someone can help me, just test flown my 450 se and get to about half collective and it begins to lighten on it skids, slightly bit more and it up, seems not very smooth as it climbs real quick.

as soon as i lower the collective it falls just as fast??? very scarey...

no damage but something is wrong???

any ideas what it might be???

If your new to Helicopters then I'm going to take a guess you have your radio setup wrong.

In hover mode, which you use to to start-up and take off in, you need to setup ypur pitch curve to set your lower and middle stick number at about 50 for a beginner, that way the blades with not produce negative lift when you lower then stick to idle position.

Suggested pitch curve would be something like this.

45, 50, 55, 75, 100

Throttle curve

0, 60, 65, 75, 100

If you intend to eventually learn 3D then I also suggest you setup your hover at the 3/4 up stick position rather than at mid stick then you won't have to re-learn all over againFlying, crashing & having a ball.

Your throttle/pitch curve are not adjust properly. In hover start with 60% thr. BUT in pitch DON'T look at the tx screen. Adjust it with pitch guied in hover 5 degree max=8-9 min.= -3 and make all the final adjusment at the field.see my gallery

the throttle and pitch curve you have suggested, what should i use if i have a 5 point/throttle curve on the TX (spektrum DX7)

Sorry, I dropped out a couple of points from my suggested curves, too early in the morning and coffee had not kicked in yet :-)

The english pilot Nigel Fraser Ker has a good Trex setup guide for beginners linked off the Trex Tuning website

Incidentally, it's worth pointing out that that article is quite old and was written for the very first ever T-Rex. If you have a CCPM T-Rex you'll need to adapt it slightly. Also, the advent of 2.4 GHz systems has enabled pilots to get around some of the radio problems I described if they use them.
