Why is the BMFA News rubbish ! I'm with the BMFA because I have to be for UK insurance. I'm glad about this because if I had joined for there BMFA News mag, I'd be VERY unhappy as a 99% heli flyer.Out of 46 pages of info at A4 size, only 2 pages of that were on heli's this month !!! and most of the wording was about Charmouth and 3D flying!!!!. There's more to heli's than 3D !!What a bunch of old boring fa*ts the BMFA is ! I'm sure I would get more info on helis if I were to read Radio Race Car !!!!Talk about promoting a division between helis and planks. |

Carefull what you say.....as a BMFA member, you are the BMFA!!!The BMFA is the sum of its members. If you would like to see a different type of article in the BMFA news, then write one and submit it to the editor!!I have just had a quick look through and noted the following:Nostagia - 2 pages
Indoor scale (bmfa event) - 2.5 pages
Free flight - 2 pages
Scale - 2 pages
Electric - 2 pages
Slope - 2 pages
aerobatics - 2 pages
BMFA nationals information - 7pagesSo if your interest is in any of the above, you only received the same coverage. The only complaint that should be leveled is that fixed wing is broken down into different disciplines, where rotary is only seen as one. If your interest is in scale helicopters (an example) why don't YOU write a regular article You yourself state that you are only a member of the BMFA for the insurance, so you only want to take from the BMFA and are very quick to have a dig when other members like yourself cannot be bothered to give to the association on your behalf. I see a similar situation in most clubs where an individual complains like hell because the grass is too long, but would not get off their fat behinds to cut (or help cut) it themselves. Before you get mad at me for pointing out the obvious, please realise that I am no better. I think the content is totally fixed wing biased, but just like you I find it easier to complain than to actually do anything about it Richard |

I know what you mean, and its not that there arnt people willing to write things, its that not enough space is given to helis, the problem is editing, what do you bet the editor doesnt fly helicopters.Whether its indoor planes or outdoor or free flight, they all get a bit, with helis if its indoor or IC, F3C, scale or 3D its all lumped in to two pages and because its all condensed down to two pages what is said is usually waffle because there isnt enough space to put anything meaningful. The problem is that the space allocated by the person who edits it is very disproportionate in favor of planks. It clearly isnt a problem of not enough material, because it has always been at most three pages, but usually (more than 90% of the time) two pages and in many articles its said that they have to cut it short this edition because of lack of space. |

He didn't when I knew him, but that was 15+ years ago!!The question that should be asked however is how many of us have submitted articles to the editor??? |

As I saidand in many articles its said that they have to cut it short this edition because of lack of space. That tells you two things, the editor isnt giving helicopters a fair share and that there is more that could be there but they cant put it in because there is no space being allocated. |

I did entertain a faint (very faint) hope that when they changed the format to its present style that the inside would be much better. Unfortunatley, it didn't happen. There's a surprise I was given a copy of an RC mag the other day from about the '70s I think, and to be honest it could have been this month's BMFA Mag. I don't think its copy, I think it's down to the people that run the entire organisation. Sadly out of date. |
