get rays authoritative helicopter manuel solved 99% of all problen
this guy put a lot of work in is manual
to ensure that every beginner and so call expert
understand everey aspec of the art of model helicopter flyng
with this book you will be able to understand how to set up fly tune engine ect ect
it is truly the one and only helicopter bible
thaks a million time rays

buy the way ray hosteler is a full scale proffessinol pilot

Its pretty good but there's some dated info in there, I wouldnt strap a heli to a ladder and tune it. His DVD series is supposed to be pretty good, if a bit dry, as well.Andy

i know some topic are a bit old but we have to understand that electronics upgrade so fast
but the main reason i recomand this book is that i find that
95% of the folks at my flyng feild dont understand how an helicopter fly

and when you make the transition from airplane to heli like i did
you enconter a lot of new sources of problems with need to be solved
i im not saying that the folks at the feild tont want to help new heli flyer but most of them dont know the teory of heli flyng

as an example the first time i flew my heli my tail rotor sensitivity
was way to hi i asked the guy that did the initial set up for me if there was a way to reduce the sensitivity he told me to leave it this way its the only way and the best way to go
but wit rays manuel i learned that sentivity can be set
with the end point in your tx most folks still reduced the (autority)sensitivity
with the gyro limit screw
and after reading rays manuel i look at my heli set up and found
that my throttle end point was off my rod and horn not 90 degree(my fault ignoring the right setting) causing me a lot of troubble flyng my heli it was a nightmare to fly and i was just about to quit the hobbies wen a guy sugestted me to get rays manuel
only 2 member have this manuel at my flyng feild
yes some topic are old but engine collectif cyclic setting stay preatty much the same over the years blades are still blades
with out this book i am blind

by the way i think its not a good idee to strap an heli to a step ladder
but still the best way to set your top end mixture exactly
but like rays said if you dont like the concept dont try it

Just for the record, its NOT the best way to set your top end mixture correctly. A strapped down heli does not duplicate the load of a helicopter in flight. If you goto http://www.raptortechnique.com he shows you the correct way to get the top and bottom needles tuned correctly.

I agree the book has a lot of good information and is good reading.
