Engine Breakin, how to?
I think someone with a lot of experience in nitro RC models, could write a short but thorough instructional post on what to expect, and a "HOW TO", on the engine breakin..

I just ran 2 1/2 tanks thru mine. I was surprised at how high I had to move the trimm to get it to fire, (almost from top to bottom of trim).

Once I got it running, I saw a lot of raw fuel dripping/running, out of the muffler. At this point I had 3 full counter clockwise turns on the needle valve. I turned it clockwise 1/2 turn, and it slowed the dripping down a little. I turned it down another 1/4 turn and decided to stop so I could let it run real wet. After running almost 3 tanks, I finally turned it down another 1/8 turn, and it was still wet and dripping. I am feeling good because I know breakin is almost done. I have broken in a truck engine, and it runns so good compared to the first ten or so times I ran it. I am so sure someone could write a nice commentary on engine breakin, and it would be a nice gift to the community.

Please, someone take it from here...
Honey, I just need this one more thing and then I'm set..

breakin settings on the hyper (assuming thats what u are using) are only 1 and a half turns out from closed. read the manual for the motor. if u are running it that rich the motor won't heat up so you are def not done breaking it in. its the heating and cooling cycles that break it in, and running it 2.5 to 3 turns out def wont allow for that. i am suprised it even kept running at those settings.

why did u set it to 3 turns out to begin with?

Go here:
http://www.ronlund.com/faqs.htm
and go down to the 'What is the best way to break in my new engine?' section. It is the best I have read on the subject.

The reason I started at 3 was the manual wasn't that clear. I read it as 1 1/2 turns out for normal and 1 1/2 turns additional for breakin. Guess that was wrong, and yes, the temps never got up over 140 so I was suspicious of that.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Edit: Found what I needed on another site. Since there are so many posts about this on RR already, I'll close this one..
