ZR2Chevy22's new tail mod.
Well guys,

I finally got around to doing my own tail mod. I have been thinking this one out and I believe this will work pretty good. total parts were about 15 bucks. I think it's gonna turn out ok. I still have to make the push rods. Let me know ya'lls input.

Neat idea Andrew!. I wonder if that extra pully half Gary gave you would work and mount right back there. That would be cool.

it wouldn't have the material to mount to and you couldn't get the clearance on the mixer arm you needed either. hence the little bracket.

Hey R2Chevy22 dude, the idea looks very good BUT since I dont see the mod very good in the pic is look like the clerance is very small. Be carefull if the metal ball link touch the metal bracket can cause RF Noise Interference with your radio, or you can have some metal friction that will reduce tail trow or in the worst case can jam the tail push rod. BE CAREFULL!!!

Check the pic for better undertanding.

Good luck,

Isaac

Clearance was little over 1/8" now it's closer to 3/8"

Looks nice, and a good idea. What kind of metal and what thickness is it? Looks very thin. My only worry is that it might be too thin/light and fatigue crack. The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Steve,

It's Stainless Steel and the thickness is .028" and it's 1/2" wide. I was thinking the same thing but with the force it took to bend it into shape I don't think it's that weak. I had to use my vice to get that bend back that tight. and I mean I had to bounce on it to get it closed.

Cool, that should be alright, but the final proof will be with time in the air.The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Well I got the push rod's made lastnight and I'm gonna give them a good full day cure. I used 30 minute epoxy to hold the all thread in. Each push rod as 5" epoxyed in the carbon and 1" exposed for the ball to thead on. I got it all setup today and moved it on the radio alittle and MAN... it's nice and smooth. As SteveH put it. The test is yet to come.... time in the air. However I feel this will perform just fine in the air. Let me know what ya'll think. Now it's time to weigh it. Once I drop the 8.4oz 2200 nicad and put on the 3.3oz li-ion and duralite regulator I should hit 7 lbs 4 oz

I have to say. I REALLY like the look of not having the tail servo on the tail. It's nice and clean looking.
