Fury Extreme Blade Grip End Play?
On my new to me but secondhand Extreme, I have about 1mm of end play on both blade grips? Is this normal? If not where should I look first and what do I need to order?

BTW, I did find this post:

so it does not seem uncommon.

I have the closed tail box so that may tell you the vintage of my bird...

The only time I had play in the grips was when I missed the washers between the c-clips and the blade grip. I'd pull it apart and check to see that all the pieces are there.

I took it apart and it all looks built right except for part #0331 (shim between the C-Clip and Blade Grip) is missing. I guess that is where my play is coming from then!

The strange thing is that Rick's lists this as an optional part:

which is weird as it sure does not seem optional to me. There is play without them! I guess it will be a while to get this flying whilst I wait for these bloody shims....ugh...

Sorted. The washers I found were .9 instead of the factory .5 but they seem to work fine anyway and there is 0 play now. I'll order some factory ones on my next order from Ricks anyway, just to have them.

"Tuner parts"
Think of those .9 shims as tuner parts if you have the double o-ring dampners as opposed to the newer one piece. O-rings are economical but the maintenace of R&R'ing the axle every 2 to 2.5 gallons makes the one piece 844-12 dampners more attractive beside the added benifit of consistent flight characteristics.
They also, more often than not require the .5 shims as there is little endplay for installation. jmho

Hey, some slight lateral play in the new kits is normal. As soon as those blades sling out at 1500+ RPM, it does not matter. You should notice that the play you see is actually between the C clip on the blade axle and the inner bearing on the grip. You could shim it out, but there is nothing to be gained.

There is actually an advantage to this... Sometimes the C clip is not seated right or gets worn, and the clip slips off. When that happens you will "feel" a difference in the lateral play on the two blade grips. So, I would leave it the way it is. If you see lateral play between the two C clips, then something is not right.
