Hardware upgrade reports?
Anyone here try any of the multiple "hardware upgrade kits" out there that dump most, or all of the stock Align soft silver aluminum screws for a better quality alloy?

Just curious if ALL the hardware is replaced, including the head and tail, or if it's just the frame hardware.

i'm specifically talking about the hardware kits that replace the stock, soft silver hardware with black oxide cap head screws that are standard with the majority of large class helis.

like the 95-piece kit from HeliHobby.com for ~$19 ...

so, right off the bat, these aren't any sort of "bling".

if it fits
its just hardware i dont think there is any real performance gain, does it save weight??is it higher grade or just colored?i think these kits are mostly for appearance.

I got this kit: http://modefosheli.com/inc/sdetail/9980 from Modefos. It has more than enough parts for any version T-Rex. Price is reasonable too.

I'll second turbojoe's comment!! Best investment I've made for the TRex so far. You get a bunch of stainless steel screws for a decent price.

They have several different screw upgrade kits for different TRex models also.

I actually just bought a set of these for my 450 from helihobby, for 19 bucks. I am using them because the stock screws that hold the boom in place are stripping from me adjusting them so much. So, these are A LOT BETTER QUALITY. I wouldn't consider them bling, or any help, or hurt to your flight, I would say its more of a cautious thing. I didn't want to get to the point where my screws were completely SCREWED! LOL, and not be able to take them out.
Hope this helps, and I would say go for it.19 bucks..what you got to lose, and they work with the original blue rings on the SE if that pertains to you, so I guess you get to keep your existing bling!@ LOL

Socket Cap Screws
Try Hexcrews.com, they have a what you're looking for.

Also check out OICU812's gallery here on RR, you'll see what socket cap screws look like in the 450.

And for those of you who haven't had to dremel one of the cheap align button head screws out, it's not just a BLING upgrade.

Less time i spend working on my heli, more time i have to fly it.

For those of you that want to build your own sets and save a TON of money go here: http://www.mcmaster.com/. Search for "socket head cap screws". You can get screws good enough for what we need for our heli's for just over $8.00 per 100.(share with friends) Or you can choose any screw/material/finish/strength combination you want and pay big bucks but still be WAY under what the R/C retailers charge.
