In that case a 401 is both sensible and adequate
Added bonus - you already know how to use it - too easy

I agree - the GY-401 with its' 9254 servo would do just great.

Hey,

If you want to go the GY401 route then I'd suggest pairing it with the new JR DS8900G Tail Servo. Reason for that is due to a high amoung of failures with the 9254's, do a search on here for more info.

Another gyro you might consider with the above servo is the newly released CSM SL630. I have just received one of these to try and so far am very impressed with it's performance.
Another option for you to consider perhaps.

Was using a 401 on my P-Gasser then swapped to the 601 and didnt notice much difference to be honest between them! the 601 seems to hold the tail fractionally better in hard climb outs but apart from that not much! but then I am not a full hard on 3der!

I honestly couldn't get the 401 to work well on my Predators. On my Gasser 26 it would simply shake the hell out of the tail.

Funnels were so complicated to nail with the Pred 70 with 401 I gave up on the gyro. I now fly CSM.

Don't you find you have to input a lot of rudder to start the funnel and then let go almost all of it at the right time to get it going?

That doesn't happen with my other gyros. I input just a bit of rudder at entry and keep it there...

Initially, I do put in more rudder but back off a bit and the funnels are sustained.Ray Fernandez - GUAM

Well, that only happens on the 401 and it is a pain if you are just learning. It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

7000T would be fine as well, but it would be overkill for sport flying IMO.
