what the...?
just browsing through airfoils videos, and saw something very interesting. go to their site, watch the video entitled kawasaki1.wmv, and if you're cleve, you'll it.

.... there's a 3 legged mount, that look quite like a love child of a hcs broadcast 360, and some airfoil mount..

Rhett,
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but at one time Airfoil produced a 360° mount with retractable legs similar to HCS Broadcast 360. I saw some in their shop when we picked up our equipment a few years ago. I think both companies released their designs about the same time. I'm not sure why Airfoil quit producing them.

You can also see it in their gallery:

You are correct you did see the prototype and some production units. I never liked the idea of retracks on a mount so we spent a year designing the Pro1 to C.G. correctly and to rotate 360 degrees without anymore wiring problems for the end user.

Probably the plus side of AirFoil is we are flying all the time so we try to improve just for the jobs we do then pass it on to the consumer.

Cool, that's fine with me. So far, I've gone through a broadcast 360, mark iv, rotorkraft gimbal, and a copterfilms setup, and I'm getting a mini pro 1. I'm a fan of testing and using what works!Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

mini joker. Hopefully going to stretch for 700mm blades, not sure how I'm going to stretch it ( not good with belt sizing..) It should be a lighter, very smooth setup for either my new leica d-lux 3, or my sony hcs3.... along side my maxi..Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

let me know when youre ready to do that and I'll tell ya what belt you need for any given size boom.

I think the panning underslung ala Pro-1 and Mini-Pro/Askman are superior to the rotating gimbal with retracts... safer too IMO.

Nice!
I wonder how the mini pro 1 would work under a Maxi? I was considering selling the broadcast 360 and going to something smaller and lighter. I am kind of worried about lugging the 360 around.

My Mini-joker is running 710's with a joker 2 boom and the same belt that DJ told me about from the stretched raptor.

I use the Mini Pro 1 and the 360 Askman mount.

Scott D. is using a mini joker with 660's or 680's.

Not to take this thread off topic but why not just buy a joker 2 instead of stretching a mini? The difference in price is what 200-300$? This is the second mention i saw of someone stretching the mini to swing the same size blades as the joker 2.

Care to fill me in?

Thanks

I've already got a maxi, and I was able to get the mini in a trade. The mini with stretched blades will also be lighter then a joker. This isn't to replace my primary workhorse, just to switch it up. I'm pming ya DJ.Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

I got a really really good deal on a Mini Joker. Plus it is lighter and has the same head as the Joker2 (lighter weight, same dia. shafts).

I'm running a Z50a-600, HV85 and 10s2p a123's. That combo is WAY cheaper than the Joker2 requirements. Not sure why but it works great for AP and sport flying.

I thought it was just a trimmed down version of the MFS head? I don't have a Joker2 so its very possible I'm wrong.

Smaller head.

The kawasaki is cool! Have you "tried" to get it stuck yet?

Doesn't it use the same dia. spindle and mainshaft as the Joker2? I thought it did that is why I had no problem putting 710's on it. When I had my stretched eRaptor I always felt it was just a matter of time until.......

I'm not sure what the spindle size is, but I know going from 600's at 2k headspeed to 710's, at 1600headspeed isn't a big change. I suppose I could stick a real joker head on, if I wanted...Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.
