I would like to know the answer to this as well. It says it is for the predator gasser but looking at my heli I cannot seem to see where it would bolt on. Wayne R

It goes between the clutch bearing housing bolts to the top of the gasser engine to stop frame flex/clutch chatter.-RCA .......... Making Cuisinarts Fly!!!!!!! |

Thanks for clearing that up. I just happen to be flying a Predator gasser so I would be interested in learning more about this upgrade. I searched Century's web site for more info ( instructions ect ) but found nothing. Is this a needed upgrade for normal flying or is it meant more for 3D flying? Does it require any modifications to the existing parts to fit it? Better still does anyone have a photo of one installed on a Predator gasser or know where instructions for it could be found.Wayne R

Billme had the prototype on his gassers at mayday. From what I can tell, you need this part if you are running a P-Gas.When you pointed out they had them available for shipping, I ordered one for my P-Gas.This does not sound like a big thing, but with all my play money going into the bike, buying a heli part is an act of congress for me.The part forces the clutch stack to stay in allignment while the engine is torqueing.-RCA .......... WHAT !?!You've got to be $h!tt!n' me! How many more "upgrades" is Century gonna come up with to wring even more money out of Predator Gasser flyers?First it was the A-arm, then it was the battery tray supports, then it was the thicker tail boom, then the swash plate, then the heavy duty clutch. . . yada, yada, yada. Why the hell didn't they finish the design and make it right before they released it!? You know why the PGasser is cheaper than than any other gasser on the market? Because they build a basic, barely flyable machine and expect YOU to add all the other stuff that should have been in there in the first place! DAMN!By the time you add up all the extras, you're well into the cost of any of the other "more expensive" gassers out there that fly correctly out of the box. Not to mention the time it takes to work out all the setup bugs. I've spent months dickin' with mine and I'm still not there yet, and let me tell ya - I'M GETTIN' FED UP! I seriously will start looking to sell the Predator and go with something that is considered a finished design. Don't even get me started on the lack of parts availability.Sorry gentlemen. . . I'm usually pretty mellow on these forums and I appreciate the opportunity to vent. It's not going to help my problems but it does make me feel better. I do, however, sincerely mean everything I said. One pissed off Xcal. . .Camper Fuel: It's Not Just for Breakfast Anymore |

rcaddictYou said "From what I can tell, you need this part if you are running a P-Gas."I am sorry but I do not think it is all that needed for all P-Gassers. Why? because I have many fairly demanding 3D flights on my two year old gasser (aluminum frame) with NO issues. I also know a number of other pilots here in Canada that do the same with their Predator SE's without these frame stiffeners...and no problems. Yep, the sky dibn't fall I understand, from talking to some of their team pilots, that it was developed to stiffen the frames of the BIG C/F framed CONDOR (which uses huge 810 to 830mm blades) if one wanted to fly extreme 3D with it.So, if you are not using the BIG C/F framed Condor for extreme 3D, they are not necessary. But like so many other such items, nuthin' stops you from installing them on your standard sized C/F or ali framed Preddy gassers. |

Mine is a aluminum framed p-gas SE. Probably the same vintage as yours or maybe older. It is converted to a Condor, though.I, like you, was very skeptical.I was tired of buying more upgrade parts for the heli.I have the super heavy duty clutch in mine plus all the other stuff to make it fly like I liked it too. With the 26 Hanson pro 3D, the clutch would slip and the auto hub slipped, too. This part eliminates the start shaft from keeping the clutch centered due to frame/engine movement. I could see that it helps, thus I bought it when I did not really have the money or the patience to buy another p-gas upgrade part.-RCA .......... Making Cuisinarts Fly!!!!!!! |

I am still hoping someone can post a photo of the frame brace upgrade installed. I do not fly 3D ( well not yet ) but I may end up adding the upgrade. As Bellecrank says it may not be a needed upgrade as my buddy has flown his Predator SE fairly hard at times with no problems. For now I am going to leave mine as is. I just got it flying real nice and from the looks of the upgrade it looks like two pieces need to be mounted between the engine and fan. I really do not feel like disturbing my perfect dial indicated fan. I managed to get it and the solide part of the clutch to .00025". It took almost two hours thanks to a not so perfect crankshaft but I now have one smooth running heli. Wayne R |

My clutch was slipping with the 7.07 ratio and 720 blades, too.Went to SHD clutch and traded one problem for another.I want to try this part with the stock clutch.Yes, I will have to re-dial indicate the fan, but where else can I get heli aggrevation? -RCA .......... Making Cuisinarts Fly!!!!!!! |
