Yea! And that's a completely Align head alright...........proves my point! There are other alternatives out there!Price drop is a natural progression of competition! It's your money deep wallet..........go outfit all the microheli stuff you want! At the end of the day an expensive heli doesn't make you enjoy the hobby more and flying skills don't improve because of your nice bling. That's like thinking you can run faster with expensive running shoes!Sure it's great stuff, but the original post was what is next for the 450!!!!!!!!If you read my posts I only speak the truth! Pointing out weaknesses and good engineering details. |

Now I know you don't know what your talking about.
The Microheli blade grips have thrust bearing which I wanted I found them to work smooth even under strong load next the tail assy has just about zero slop & zero binding also the longer shaft helps maximize tail pitch I'm able to run my gyro rate at 80% which on the stock tail assy I was only able to get 50% the stock tail would always kick out when flying backwards and inverted backwards flight with the new tail it helps so in the long run it will improve my flying skills All I did was to take out the point of weakness in my heli you see bling I see parts that help my heli fly that much better & no my pockets are not that deep I would still ask that you do a search and you will find alot of unhappy heli owners with the HDX look I still have a HDX300 I wont go there with this Heli all I can say it flys that about it. |

whyfly,There is nothing wrong with the Microheli blade grip! Thrust bearings should be used on everything possible including the main shaft and tail! The original post sought improvements to the 450 machine....what's next......!!!! Certainly, blade grips with thrust bearings should have been more important to Align than increasing the diameter of the feathering shaft! Align has tail issues! More than one post has addressed this.Certainly, the Microheli tail slider with top/bottom fork is a better way to increase linear displacement on the shaft! Also, if one looks at the design of the 3dx450 tail you can see they are pointed in the right direction. I have 2 operational and 1 spare......none of which have given me problems and are flawless in design and QC! I don't know what your specific problem was but you refer to the 300 size unit. The general rule in designing machines is.......the smaller they are the more tolerance becomes an issue! Any heli smaller than 450 size is going to be a pain in the butt when it comes to QC because of this. That is why the guys with zooms upgrade to a 12mm boom so they can use the larger tail shaft without vibration issues. Once they eliminate the tail problem they have a fine flyer.I would love to hear specific detail on what you found so offensive with the 3DX/HDX tail though. Overall, it is a great design with no slop...... I haven't dial indicated it yet, but I'll bet you would be hard pressed to find .010-015 in. lash between the servo and the tail blade holders! That includes all slop in ball ends and bearings from servo through to the tail system......!!!!!!! That's pretty impressive for such a small machine!Just my 2 cents!Lee |

Isurber,I had so much slop in tail Assy that the heli got a bad case of tail wage.Helidirect did replace the tail assy for me I order a lot of stuff from them and still do to this day, But going back to the tail I did find a bent arm and bad bearings on the second tail sent it back and just order the microheli tail at $10.00 more which had prove to be a better tail assy.Hdx might have inprove there QA/QC not sure but all I know is I had alot of issue with the Tail assy and with my HDX300 but the best Mini heli out box I found is Mini-Titan I have about 75 flights and no issue and no bling and yes thrust bearings and the tail is so sweet and at $130.00 you can't go wrong. |

Guys, guys, guys. Can we please get the thread back on topic? You both have valid points to make but they should be made in their own threads. Thanks.JoeI reject your reality and substitute my own........... |

Just some friendly conversation! LOL! Bearings!!!!!! Great point whyfly!!! Another place where we need improvement! I have had problems with both Align and 3DX/HDX bearings.I think we have discovered and argued all the problems and now can close this thread! LOL!Lee |

If I were to buy another Align 450 heli, I would want the next version to be all CNC parts not cast. That should improve the quality. Keep the V2 around for the cost conscious and more expensive V3 for an extreme version.I'm still a fan of the T-REX so I'm not trying to start anything. I have all the versions since the 450x came out. It's just that the parts quality are a crap shoot.Balbs |

Trex 500 ???????? The first mention… on this board… of a “Trex 500”, was last September. At the time a lot of people (including me) expressed an interest in a Trex of that size. Virtually, nothing has been said since that time.Does ANYBODY have concrete information about a 500 Trex… If so, please post it!Thanks! |
