Thanks for all the input, it's much appreciated and taken to heart.
Havoc, sites like RunRyder have so much traffic that you're probably correct, topics discussed here are also being presented in our magazine. That's just the nature of a special interest catagory as focused as RC helicopters. And is going to happen when we write about stuff we think people want to read about. A topic is a topic.

Mike,
Best thing you can do is tell it like it is, so many mags are all to nice to products that are just not so good.
I know as I have friends that work in the mag industry, and I see products they test, maybe even fly them myself, and the ones that are junk, still get a good review. why, cause the advertisments pay the bills, and they stem from products. Bad review, maybe less ads?

A magazine that tells it like it is would be a breath of fresh air, and so far, with your mag, I like it, and with several reviews I remember reading, it did seem to note the bad with the good.

I like the detail of your reviews as well. that is nice.

Problem is some of the sources for those topics are free and just as good.

Yeah... But, I don't have a computer in my library (the bathroom)
That is the only place and time that I can have a few quite moments a day to read an article. There is a great selection of magazines to thumb through!

You could print out forum threads on toilet paper. It would be just like being there. Even more interactive. If you don't agree with a reply, that's where you put your thumb.

Havoc, the information is out there. The job of a magazine and a web forum are two different things. RunRyder is interactive, immediate response, for users to present ideas, discuss, disagree, etc. A magazine, the job of the editors are to comb through all that clutter and present a topic in an easy to read, enjoyable, accurate, and informative concise format. Most magazines (ours included) can be picked up on the newsstand for $5.99 or there abouts, even less for a subscription. In my opinion, it's a pretty small price to pay for information about the same hobby you probably have THOUSANDS invested in. Aside from helicopters I'm into Hockey, Boxing, running a Small Business, and Cars. I subscribe or pick up on the newsstand magazines about all those topics. I spend maybe $100 a year on all three. I see it as a small price to pay for good information and something to kill time when sitting on the can, waiting for a doctor, or taking a trip. When the kids are asleep and wife's bussy I'll crack open a magazine and read for 5 minutes or an hour, depending on the topic and my interest. At the same time I frequent web boards just like Run Ryder on all the topics I listed earlier. IMO magazines and the web coexist and even compliment eachother. Run Ryder and my magazine might compete for some ad dollars, but as far as users/reader I think most visit/read both.
