What Portable Power Source Are You Using?
Morning...I love my 600CF...but hate the one or two flights at the field. I purchased a portable power supply from Sears that was a car jumper / DC power supply. I was only able to recharge my battery twice at 4.2amps? So please share what setups and options your using today at the field...I looked at the Honda portable gas generators....but $800.00 is a lot of money.

I have a 110 amp hour leisure battery that gets me at least 5-6 charges spread across my 10s and 6s packs.
Just pop it back on charge when I get home. If I really need more, I can always use the car battery.

It appears that I'm better off going to Sears or Walmart and purchasing a marine battery and charger. When I try to use both charges for two 4200 battery packs...it just kills the battery in the car currently. Even when I tried to use the 400Watt power inverter...The Prius has some major battery poweer onboard!!Go Gators!!

I had two ebay 1000W generators. They are good at $130-150 shipped for the cost. I gave up on it due to noise levels requiring it to be placed 50' away or more.

After going through two (starting problem develops) of them, I ended up with Honda 2000i. Now I can put it next to my heli table and barely notice it. At 30' you won't even know if it is running.

electriciancarl,

Where did you get generator?
At a local tool shop called Pay-n-Save. They are also available in auto stores like Checker, Autozone, ect. It is the same china made unit as seen on e-bay.

No need to chip in. I have about 1000w to spare so just bring your extension cord and your power supply and you are good to go.

Thats exactly what I've been trying to say for the longest time now..
I don't charge at the field, but if I did, it would be with a solar array. ( I don't have a prius at my disposal )

What's the capacity of the Solar array? You would need at least a 150Watt panel going into a deep cycle battery to come out even charging a 6S 5000MAH pack. And the panel would need full sunlight to get that output. If you took breaks between charging it would work out well. Too bad 150Watt panels are large..
