Removing the Swift's tail boom - difficult?
Hello

i had purchased my swift second hand, so, i am not familiar with the various parts and how they were put together.

i recently purchased the CNC fin mount, and was wondering - what would be the best way to put it on? should i take the tail case off to slide the mount or go from the other direction?

i am concerned that the belt might be under tension, so, if i took the casing off, i might not be able to put it back. i wish i had the instructions, and checked the website (fin???), but he didn't have it either.

any directions will be very much appreciated !

If you do not have the CNC tailcase, you can not remove the rear tail case without removing the front first. You need to revove the 8 screws that hold the tail to the main frame and also the ones that hole the upper bearing block. Then you can slide the tail out with a little wiggling. If you get the CNC tailcase you can remove the rear without removing the front. Hope this helps...RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

Yes you can. Once you get the tail assembly off, you have to take the four screws that hold the two halves of the front transmission apart. Then you slide the old fin holder off and put the new one on....RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

hi pete, thanks for your post. i had actually tried looking for instruction manual, but the ones i have found online are for the ARF kit, so, the tail is already pretty much done ... so, it is not that helpful. i wish i could find the manual for the kit, which will have drawings - setup instructions.

thanks though ... khan

There is a link here on RR for the kit manual. Let me know if you can't find it.

oh sorry...the kit version of course

on the ARF version manual...page 12 and 13 "Tail Drive Assembly"

Only thing not shown in detail is the small set screw (one) per side of the transmission gear BOX that holds the metal pin in place...the one the actual white gear rides on...you need to loosen it first or you will have a hard time pulling the gear BOX apart.

Best of luck!
