inverted tail-in. I don't know why but that just messes with my head. I'm at the point of flying inverted figure-8's both directions but if I stop tail in I have to really concentrate. Inverted nose in I'm comfortable coming down to a few inches off the ground but tail in..

I'm making it a habit to shoot auto's every time I fly and I try to remember to land and take off nose it every time I fly. I'm finding that it's harder for me to do straight sideways landings than nose in landings now. Also the last 2 minutes of a tank I'll usually do a series of slow prio's both directions and attempt to hold it in one spot. I think this is helping a lot.

oh, and inverted autos = big splat Sunday.

Nose in for me, rather upright or inverted. My brain still takes time to process it - but like they say: parctice, practice, practice! I will get it down eventually

...So I tried and realized that I'm really shakey at that now! It's actually embarassing that I can fly pretty hard (hurricane, funnel, chaos, snake) but I don't hover worth a darn!

I'll re-teach how to hover if you teach me to do hurricane, funnel, chaos, and snakes.

If I haven't flown for awhile I get nervous about landing nose in again and then revert to tail in landings. Flying figure 8s also, but after a few flights it's ok.

So my weakness' happen after not flying for some time even if I have flown on the simulator, it just isn't the same as the real thing.

My weakest point right now is fast backwards into a turn going from right to left. From left to right I am pretty smooth and controlled, the other way I get the rudder input wrong more often than not...arrrrgh.

The other slight weekness is when the heli is right side on to me, I am a little shakier on that side. Left side - sweet as. I have been trying to execute more maneuvers right side on to me to overcome that one. I also try to do as many backwards passes by myself from right to left during a flight as I can. I hate it that my brain favors one side over another but that's just the way it is I guess...

autos (but who needs them anyway as long as engine is running :-D )
Autos are for me THE way to break something so I never bothered much with them.

i dont have trouble with anything, i'm a Master

nah, haha.

i'm a little shaky with nose in inverted. i was REAL bad at piroets, but i practice flying around ont eh sim doing a slow and constant piroette the entire flight, you learn a lot from that.

w.pasman - same here When required, due to flameout or whatever, I've always autoed just fine. A while back I managed a blade stopper out of necessity My auto hub was locked so with sufficient height, I had to stop the blades to disengage the clutch, then build head speed and bring it home safely. What supprises me is that I've never had the bottle to hit the hold switch to practice autos although have hit the hold switch many times in emergencies. Everyone's got their hangups

i practice autos a lot. i cant say i have never had a bad auto, i have had clsoe calls, but most of the time, when i have a bad auto, is when its un-planned.

since i do practice autos a lot though, i have been able to save my heli a number of times

In fact I did never have emergencies requiring the hold switch up to now on the real machine.
I did have an inverted flame out once at about 5 meters high, and I managed to do what looked like a perfect auto, with an apparently very smooth touch down. I was stunned when I still had a boomstrike at touch down...
I did a dozen of normal autos, most with wind. On the sim I had trained them exclusively with lots of wind, as I do with every figure (...) When at one moment there was NO wind, I had to break just a bit harder and the tail just hit the ground resulting in another boomstrike.

These two failed autos were my only real crashes so far.
