OS 50 Hyper - Problem ?
Hey,
I started to fly my new evo 50 with a new os50 hyper.. so I'm doing a break-in for it. The heli is flying great and a nice smoke trail comes out from the muffler.. the engine is not too hot after a tank.
I started the engine to the 2nd flight and carried the heli to the starting point... The throttle stick was on the lowest position all the time.. I walked pretty slow(takes me like 20sec forth and back(back and forth ?)... so when I got back to the line when I suppose to fly, the engine stopped.

I asked some guys at the field and they told me it's a normal behavior for a new engine at break-in. Also, they told me I shouldn't leave the throttle stick at the lowest position for too long when the engine is running but not in flight.. they said I should move the throttle stick for a little effort(for the engine).

How much of that is true, and what may be my problem (if there is) ?

Thanks for the help,
Gil.

Your friends are probably right...the engine probably just loaded up a bit with too much fuel with the breakin needle settings you are using. The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Just keep blipping the throttle as you carry your heli to the flight line. Even after the engine is run in it will not like to idle for more than 30 seconds or so without you blipping the throttle as it is best to keep the idle or mixture setting a little on the rich side.

OK.. great. This is exactly what the guys at the field told me.
By blipping - you mean moving the throttle stick abit until I fire up ?

By blipping I mean like the boy racer would do with his car or motor bike while waiting for the lights to go green. Just as it seems that the engine is going to die you rev the engine.

You need to hold the transmitter with your thumb on the inner part of the throttle/collective stick so you can open and close the thottle one handed. Then while you are carrying your heli you will be able to blip the the throttle.

If the engine is popping but not starting then raise the trim a liitle on the tx to get a faster idle speed. Once the engine is started and gets warm you can reduce the trim again.

You can also pinch the Fuel tube going into the needle a bit. When the RPM rises walk away and add a little throttle stick to unload the motor.
