GY401 Failure

Hi Guys

Ive got a problem potentially with either my Gyro GY401 or the 9254 Servo

I was flying my heli on the weekend side on to the wind. and it started kicking the tail about 15 degrees...not constantly but every now and again. and when i punched the throttle it would swing drastically to one side. i landed and check all linkages. everything smooth. no binding. no missing belt teeth. so i take it off again. and it holds smooth about a foot off the ground. when all of a sudden it swings wildly to the right and trashes itself into the ground!

now the question i ask is this. has anyone else experienced a similar problem with the GY401? where can i send it to, to be checked out?Why cant they make womans perfume smell like Heli Fuel?

Happens all the time

Just responded to a similar post. Has happened to me 3 seperate times. This combo is pure garbage.

If you were running a 401, which servo would you use? It's hard to find a 9253...I was just curious.Gas is Great

Go with the 9252

A friend of mine had very similar problems. He switched to a 9252 and had no issues. I was going to do the same but sprung for the 611 instead. Good luck!!

thanks guys, nice to know it isnt an isolated incident. so would you say i should spring for the 611? or just get a 9252?Why cant they make womans perfume smell like Heli Fuel?

If you're just starting out

I'd probably wait a while on the 611. Spend that money on fuel and build up some stick time. By the time you need the 611 they'll have the 6xxx... If you're ready for a higher end gyro, the 611 is an excellent choice I think. Just my 2 cents.

I've got two R60's with Futaba 401's and both have a futaba S9252 on them and no problems.

If you have your servo mounted on the boom you might want to check the wiring that goes into the servo itself, right at the rubber grommet. Nitro fuel will eat away at the plastic coating on the wires and cause it to short. This has happened to a few friends of mine and they had the same problem that you just said you had.

It's a good thing to check all of your servos if you have had them for more then two years, the nitro fuel does eat away at the plastic coating on the wires after time.
