Aurora Fact or Fiction?
With all the hype about the Aurora are some of you getting burned out from waiting? Any of you going to spend your money else where like on a 600-700N From TREX or are you still chasing the dream?

Not getting burned out at all.
I have other heli's to fly, one of which is an Avant EFX. (still way too nice of a bird for me, more quality than I could ever ask for)

The longer people wait for an Aurora, the better the end product, and the happier we all will be in the end.

If you're looking for a rushed product, with just a few months of R&D, the Align may be the heli for you. Congrats, you will own the next Raptor. Just another dime/dozen machine. Most of which, will be purchased and crashed by rookie pilots, and end up in garage corners and under the cobwebs of a damp basement somewhere.

What I am getting burned out about is, all the GARBAGE POSTS such as,
"Augusto sucks, he cant keep a commitment" or "Screw Avant, Ill just buy another Raptor 90 or a Vibe".
Then you see all these guys trying to do a charge back on their $100 deposit. Just non-stop Avant bashing. THAT BURNS ME OUT, MAN.

Never once have you read any posts about the matter coming from me. I havent written any. I have no reason to.
WHY?
I already own the best 90 sized helicopter available on the market. It IS an Avant. Why should be impatient?

Several months ago, I created a thread, "History has a way" here on the Avant section. You should read it. Im going to "ttt" that thread right after I post this.

I'm trying to word this right, so bare with me here.
I'll tell you how I could have been dissapointed with an Aurora.Lets say it was released last fall, basically the same version as what was originally previewed. It was a very nice helicopter as it was. But honestly, I couldnt pick out all of the differences between the Aurora and an FX/EFX. What it looked like to me, was an FX/EFX that was it's very own kit, everything you need to build in one box. No Hirobo needed. GREAT!

If you have been keeping up with the Aurora updates, mostly on the AvantRC website, you may have noticed the helicopter has been almost completely redesigned. Innovations such as "sacrificial tabs" to keep crash costs WAY DOWN, and some significant redesign of the heli's front end, to accomidate some electronics better. Someone could chime in here, and explain many of the updates, as I don't know all of them. (I predict RappyTappy. He's real good about that )

But say, we had all bought that original Aurora last fall. All the changes and improvements, and being the perfectionist that Augusto is, it would have necessitated in an Aurora V2 (that would have been another $1000 or $3000 RTF you would have had to spend. would you be a happy camper then? You might be in that same crowd of dissapointed N9 owners, or those that fly "Craptors" and keep buying more and more "Craptors" anyway.

I dont want to be part of that crowd. I dont want a "bandwagon" heli just because Alan Szabo flies one. I just want the best there is. If I need to wait 10 more months, so be it. I'll wait that long. Patiently. I wont be whining like the majority of you.

Flame me for saying this, that $985 target price point, I'd actually prefer it was more. Im really not kidding. An attractive price gets too many people on a bandwagon, And I dont like being looked at as one of those who ride bandwagons. I'd prefer to walk. And I WILL own an Aurora.
If it were released at $1600 or more, I wouldnt be the slightest bit dissapointed. I'd feel it was completey worth it.
If it was to come out at $985, I will guaranatee the first several hundred kits sold are at a loss, or recovering losses. Do any of you guys realize the amount of time, money, intensive and rigerous R&D that has been put into this machine? I think I at least have an idea.
Its a fair statement to say, that $985 was never "set in stone"
Looking at the heli now, especially as to what it has evolved to, it is worth MUCH, MUCH more than that. I mean, MinAir and Hirobo can get away with charging a fortune, and those who fly either or those, understand they are paying for PREMIUM quality.

Enough rambling already. Why dont we just go out and fly?
(heh, at least I have an excuse. Im in seattle and it rains every damn day)

What was the title of this thread again? Fact or Fiction.
The fact is, you're just gonna have to wait, buddy.

About the "History has a way" thread.
We are certainly very aware of the huge amount of anticipation generated by the buzz. We decided to show a Preview of the Avant because we wanted to give the oportunity for people to be able to see it in person at the IRCHA event and be able to hold it and examine it. That preview as well as the internet and e-mails allowed us to get feedback that we used to finalize the design. I have tried not to release any more info or videos or anything that will ignite more anticipation because the last thing we need is more pressure from people that want us to rush things. We have plenty of pressure as it is just from the the people that get to see them flying. We will not announce any prices until the day we release it because we want to make sure we have everything considered. The target price is still the same that I posted here in this thread though.

We have added many refinements to the kit. When you see the final kit you will see that it was well worth the wait. Just be a little bit more patient because it's real close to release date.

Augusto.
That was posted on November 11th 2004. Yes, 2004. It was referring to the Avant FX. NOT the Aurora.
But imagine it was posted by Augusto today, May 21, 2007. Pretend it was referring to the Aurora.
It isnt, but Augusto has said a very similar statement in the very recent past.
It was only about 6 weeks later, and the AVANT was a reality.
6 weeks. Thats not very long at all.
We have all said it, or at least read it,
"Any day now."

Any day now. I can feel it. Im believing it now.

I'm sure it will be a fine heli onces it comes out. I'm just not waiting like a dog on a leech to buy it anymore.

I sold my Avant EFX last fall in anticipation of the Aurora release in the early Spring, I have my preorder with Heli Proz. The wait without a 90 has taken it's toll, and I just bought a used N9...which took $$ to get in perfect shape. I'm enjoying it, very precise, locked in, incredible collective response...but it really lacks in a few areas of quality...and it doesn't come close to the overall quality of the Avant EFX. Speaking with TB on the phone is very easy, and in my opinion the customer support is the best I've seen. I only hope that they (Synergy) takes the QC issues seriously, before they find themselves competing with the Avant Aurora, Trex 700 next year sometime...and Todd has told me that prices will fall on parts as needed to compete.

I love the design of the Aurora, it's part Hirobo, X-cell, and purely Avant in some areas...with great price's on parts, it's going to be hard to compete with. But with all the tech. improvements in this industry lately, new models will be showing up to "raise the bar" again.

Let's hope that the Aurora will be released before IRCHA this year!

(I predict RappyTappy. He's real good about that )
Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis

I said this a while back in my post. I seriously am just speculating as much as any other guy, maybe I sound more credible.
For the record, I am not an official Avant RC spokesperson so I know as much as any of you and probably less than others on here.
Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

No Chris.
Im not asking for release updates, I was hoping you could summarize some of the improvements that have been made to the machine over the past 12 months. I know there have been several.
As you are an Aurora owner, you have seen this heli evolve from what it used to be last fall.

The most changes I experienced was just changing of the type of materials used on certain parts of the heli to be more durable, that was only found to be an issue during extensive use. I have not seen any 'major' design changes as some have said here.Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'
