Results: Tail still twitchy.2) Checked all bearings and linkages, lubed the main shaft and tail shaft. Results: Tail still twitchy.3) Used "Tri-Flow" to lube the tail belt.\ Results: Tail is still twitchy, but much less:-)So far I have not tried the following yet: 1) Switch out the ESC from the stock Align to a CC35 2) Turn off Governor modeI hope later tonight to head out to the flying field where I have more room to see if it is really better or not. So far I have been limited to the test stand and hovering. |

Lubing did nothing for the wag, but it IS keeping my belts from turning into balls of yarn (that and changing tail gear to metal one with a bevel instead of that horrid plastic gear). I lube before each day of flying with Silicon spray (applied to belt with a cuetip)I've had it over 2750 RPM now with zero tail issues, and gain is much higher than I've ever been able to run it, now that I turned off governer. (42% norm, 40% idle1 & idle2) My qualified opinion is this...------------------- 1) IF you are running 2400-ish headspeed, maybe 2500, you can probably get away with running governer. As others have said this may depend on gearing and pinion. I'm running 13T pinion, and stock gears (no tail reduction), and my gov DID work at my normal (non-idle up) headspeed, which was noticeably slower than idle1.2) IF you are running closer to 3000 than 2500 (I happen to be running about 2750 on idle1), then your governer may fight it out with your gyro. i.e. hideous tail wag. Thats why the wag is tied to the idle up (which usually has higher headspeed along with it).3) IF you are running an Align 35 amp ESC just be grateful it works at all and don't push your luck by trying to get the governer to work. Just use a curve. With my throttle curve I just worried about getting my HOVER RPM to around 2800, used a top end of 96%, midstick was in the low 70's I think. I put about 30% swash->throttle mix so extreme maneuvers push in plenty of extra RPMs, and it does nice axial rolls, loops, flips. Sounds pretty much like when it was on the governer. If you want to use a governer get a Jazz, it probably works well enough to use. ALL other ESC's seems to be a PITA, including the Quark 33A and of course the Castle. Only use the governer mode on the Align ESC if you're doing training gear hovering type stuff (and consequently running a fairly low headspeed, like 2400). |
