if you weren't paying attention, people are talking about NUKING the country... a totally different ballgame from simply BOMBING it... your family doesn't suffer from fallout or radiation poisoning, now do they?... there is no rebuilding of a city atop a radioactive foundation.

Nukes are not an option, as too many innocents? would be lost.
However I dont see a problem with the "Scorched Earth" policy.
Maybe you mis-understood my statement TRexrookie-

Do I need to re-phrase it to:

Peace- Through Superior Conventional Firepower

I am not an advocate of nuclear weapons at all. Unfortunatly they are a necessary deterrent even though the "Cold War" is over.
But I feel that the only way to break the radical mindset of these "Insurgents" is to somehow get them to realize that the price they are paying is too great.
And we need the general Iraqi and Afghani etc citizens to cease tolerating these Insurgents.
Hence the "Scorched Earth" statement.
Devoid the enemy of any cover- Allow them no quarter.

Unfortunatly we would probably create more enemies than we eliminate though.

So here we are 35 years later in the same type of quagmire.........

No easy out on this one...........Liberals are like a "Slinky", useless but entertaining when pushed down stairs....

I guess the Book of Revelations isn't too far off from reality.
You know, I'm not a religious guy at all, but I can't help but think about this from time to time. The muslims version of the great "Mahdi" and The Christian "Anti-Christ" seem to me, to be the same guy. When framed in Good VS Evil, things do start to make a bit more sense. We are on the good side, and the extreme Muslims are definatly the Evil ones. They wish to bring about Armageddon, and I'm afraid we (meaning us and Israel) might give it to em. And some of what that book says...you can't help but wonder. That said, I think I'm to much of a realist to totally believe it. Yet again, I don't know, no one does.Timing is everything

Jim, if you want THIS country to implode on itself, then we can go ahead and nuke the country and turn it into the world's largest crystal ball... but I assure you, the effects will be nothing of what most people expect. nuking the country won't bring peace to the world sooner... it'll only push peace further into the future when the last human being dies after we all kill each other off...

and why is it so hard to believe that the United States government isn't capable of conspiracy? so many other governments out there have been found guilty of it... you make it sound like it is IMPOSSIBLE for the U.S. government to commit such crimes... not to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but politicians are politicians and many of them would be willing to do ANYTHING to get what they want out of the people. in their eyes, they aren't the 'voice of the people', they're MANIPULATORS of the people. unfortunately very few politicians in the world have ever truly fought for the greater good without thinking about what's in it for them.

1stPlace..........you're not paying attention,,, I mentioned 2005 and 2006 in my post. Tell me What did Bush/Republicans do in 05 / 06 when Republicans had complete control of the White House and both Houses of Congress ????,,,, our loses increased every year,, and what did Bush/Republicans do to reduce our escalating loses????????

Not a damn thing,,, their agenda was gay marriage, and passing laws to stop it,,, etc. Then there's Terry Shivo,,, remember her,,, Republicans called a special weekend session to pass legislation to prevent her from being removed from her ventilator,,, etc.... Plus,, we got lie after lie,,,, "the insurgency is in it's last throws" from Cheney and "we're winning" from Bush. Remember Bush Lying before the elections last year,,, talking about troop draw downs in the spring of 2006,, when the violence and troops loses in Iraq were increasing.


When you give an Iraqi the "Thumbs Up",, you're really sayin: "Up Your A$$"
