I was looking at all the internal wiring and the biggest issue is to route the 90 deg connector on the antenna wire through the old antenna hole this would require removing the soldered connector and resoldering it to the wire. Not sure if I want to try this.
Any Suggestions ?

Ben,

In any case, no soldering is needed. You need to get a new, longer coaxial cable. The simplest way is to buy an E-flite Blade CX2 antenna from Horizon Hobby as was done by aerobob here:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...19&postcount=46

You will still need to open up the module, drill some holes in the module and transmitter case, and remove the ipex/U.FL connector and replace with the new one. It's not difficult, but if you are uncomfortable with it, then you may choose not to do the modification.

Regards,
Rick

Has anyone else had range problems with the CX-2 antenna?

I can only get about 20 feet and it dies, (when range testing)

one thing that I noticed was the CX-2 antena is shorter than the one that comes with the modual. Is there anyway I can fix this problem?

That is Great to See that there is something so easy to do.
I ordered the new antenna before I finished reading the post.

sorry about the pics born2rc, I just range checked my 6100 in my Zagi and I could get about 80-90 paces, the manual says 30 will do,

I installed a new one and was vary careful on not bending the wire and it worked out fine!
My range checks get about 300 feet.

i am not so clear with your range test. so, after getting the new antenna, you got 300 feet away (with the binding button pressed)?

or did you get 300 feet (binding button not pressed), and then the model would go in fail safe???

So, I did the change over !!! Easier than I had expected. I tried the receiver, and the servos ... they work fine, the light on the receiver turns on.

Do I need to 're-bind' the RX/TX again ?!?!
