I flew three batteries today with my 450SA.

Yesterday I crashed twice... flybar came loose... got her back together and flew again and the battery fell out... both my fault.

Today she's flying great.

As far as the few who poo on Align.... me being one of them, it's simply telling it like it is. Align makes a lot of crappy parts. I say this through first hand experience.

If you can't handle the truth than you're most likely just another cheerleader that stand up for something only because they own it

As far as the on board glow driver is concerned, if I was going to actually use one it would NOT be made by Align.

Who here is using Align ESC's, Align batteries, Align gyros?

When you compare the 450 class helis out there... Align stuff flies great and is well designed. I just don't like their quality. Put that same quality into a larger ship and you are talking dangerous.

I happen to be using the Align 6 amp reg with tail step down in my rappy for several months now. It has performed flawlessly. Yes, I had some issues with my first trex450. SO what. When ANY CO. in the world mass produces the way Align has sometimes you will have issues. I have also had issues with my Raptor, issues that have been TT problem for 10yrs and NEVER been addressed. IE the stupid tail hub(6USD upgrade avail) and the tail belt hub.

But, atleast when Align has a problem, THEY LISTEN and will soon have an upgrade. And that upgrade is usually in the next version of the kit. Does TT or any of the manafacturers do that??

I just crashed again today. This time nothing to do with Align. The Aon motor gave out. I repaired it once before but not the recommended way. I glued the rotor to the shaft with CA... Doesn't hold well when running continuous, swapping in new batteries.

I'll fix it again the right way. Grind flats on the shaft and use JB Weld.

I do...and it works just fine thank you. I must admit the Align gyro is in a drawer now, on the other hand it's actually not an Align gyro, just a re-badged Telebee...never failed but I never could get rid of the wag.

I use in total 5 Align ESC's, 25-75A, I have had 1 failure that I probably induced myself (much like you mishaps Mike )

I've been using Align batteries since 2004 and those I haven't abused because of lacking knowledge are still going fine.

I've gone from the 3A regulator in the 600 to the 6A just as a safety measure. The 3A will end up in a sailplane this summer. I have another 3A in another plane. My 620SE will be using the Align 6A regulator

I too use an Arizona, in my R50, talk about complex unprotected stuff...love it so far, it's still working just fine but hopeless to mount in a good manner.

Just wanted to post that I was able to look at the documentation with the 2 in 1 and it is a 6amp BEC output at 5.8 volts DC... It does not however come with a voltage regulator for gyro servos.... If you plan on getting one and need the voltage regulator, dont forget to get it at the same time.... $4 part, you think they might just include it.....But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

ya, you'd think they'd include it since you need it anyways (the step down for the tail - it's only like $5 bucks) - I was bummed for a while waiting for that step down reg for the tail. but all in all the item gives you some very cool conveniences I'm not seeing mentioned. 1. built in volt meter 2. tiny power switch easy to mount in an accessible location (an advantage more so on some helis) 3. voltage regulator so you can use lightweight higher powered lipo batteries. 4. that on board glow driver rocks - press the button for 15 seconds of fire - it can't get any simpler - it adds no weight like some of the nillys here are complaining about. the voltage indicator and onboard glow controller aren't adding any more weight than the standard power switch you just replaced. trade some weight by getting rid of heavier nimh batts for the regulator - simple math. You're always charging your heli flight battery anyways, which means you have a good glow battery - I love it - a ton of flights on mine and it's like sliced bread - ya you can do without it - but it's cool !

BAck to the original issue:
saw these on another site, its cool but I dont like the aligator clip on the glow plug...
I agree, and I have also used the boot but it fails.

The Solution is to cut the aligator clip off. Then strip the wire, about 1/8 inch. Now cut off a 1/4 inch of fuel tubing and run the wire in the tubing, so tht it is even but not sticking out. Then press the fuel tubing with the wire in it onto the end of the glow pluc. I've been using this method for a couple of months now with no problems.

I didn't like the gator clip either, but I've got about 25 flights on my trex with it and it's never come loose.

The alligator clip has gave me no issues after 8 gallons. I don't see why it would be a problem.

I just ordered the upgraded version of the Align BEC And Glow Igniter System:
B6T 2 In 1 Voltage Regulator HE50H10

http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/102751

It is supposed to have better circuits and a better insulation.
I have to admit that it looks way better (quality wise) tha the 1st edition.
