Hey MadDog..I've got my guys mounted with a piece of velcro on their back against the fuse and I actually glued a 4-40 stud into one of their legs, drilled a hole through the bench and secure with a nut handtight. I do not want to launch one into the rotor! Although that would look cool....once. My rope was made from one strand of another larger nylon rope and I just dyed it by mixing a little Testors olive drab with acetone and soaked it. I like your fixtures and fittings. Much better than my hurry up job. HAV

HAV,

Thanks for the info. I am going to attach my guys the same way. My "little bird" is a 90 size so I think 550 para cord would be the proper scale for the fast rope. I have some in OD green which should work. The fast rope hangers are made from solid aluminum rod. I filed down the ends until they fit into clevises which were bolted with spacers and allen bolts from the inside. The pod seats hang from control horns that were trimmed to fit another set of clevises.

Iceaxe;

Great to see that you routed your exhaust out through the scale location. I think that looks best. No offense intended, but I would have picked a different location than out the side of the heli.

I did too but it still looks weird to see a "turbine" powered helicopter belching smoke, even from the scale location.

I just maidened mine this afternoon . I'm very impressed with it, She looks fantastic in the air. My only gripe is that I have a slight wobble on the horizontal tail surface and winglets on spoolup. That said when flying speed is reached the wobble just about dissapears leaving only a very slight high frequency vibration. My tracking looks to be spot on so I can only assume my head speed may be a little high. Next time out I'll drop it a bit and see what she's like. I suspect this may be the cause because my first attempt the head speed was epic and she was shaking like a ****ing dog . I dropped my mid point throttle position to 40% and things were suddenly a lot calmer. I'm also going to change my RX. At the moment I have the ariel running inside a plastic tube inside the fuselage, it's an FM RX and I got a couple of glitches. I suspect this is because of the proximaty to the boom and belt, maybe the belt is causing static, we'll see. I'm going to pop in one of my PCM RX's which sould make things better.

make sure your blades aren't too tight on the grips...this can cause that vibration...and of course blade balance..
oh, and smoke from the prototype exhaust..? punch the t-5's up and trust me you will get plenty...(more power = more smoke)

My blades are running loose in the grips, They are set so they just fall under their own weight with the heli on its side. I'm running an OS Hyper which is still fairly new with the main needle open 1 3/4 turns so nice and rich (smoking like it's on fire). There still seems to be massive amounts of power there with loads more to spare. I already took my time to ensure the blades didn't need any residual balancing, however they are only inexpensive glass blades. Here in the UK they cost £29.95 approx $60.00 US. They do seem to be spot on. When I set up the mechanics out of the Fuse I had no vibration issues. Obviously it didn't have any sticky out bits which amplify such vibes. I'll give her another go next weekend and see how things go then. Up to now I'm not dissapointed and I'm sure my vibes can easily be cured.

They all wobble like that a bit during spool up, the body just magnifies it.

Here's mine. Not done yet, though. Are they ever?

In those pics I had my Titan mechanics installed. I have since removed the Titan and test fitted my R50 V2. The V2 looks a bit better in it as it doesn't have all the bling of the Titan sticking out the top. The QUK head just looked a bit too showy. Not very scale-like at all.
