Are you using a throttle-to-rudder mix? Sounds like it may be backwards

I use the more complicated auxilary-to-rudder mix which uses two switches

I recommend this rudder-to-rudder mix that only uses the throttle-hold switch

    [PROG.MIX2]
    RUDD> RUDD
    RATE: + 100%
    0%
    SW:HOLD
    OFFSET: -100
Power the heli with the Hold switch in the '0' position and wait for the gyro to initialize then flip the Hold switch to the '1' position to arm the tail esc then flip the Hold switch back to the '0' position to fly

BTW Disconnect the main motor and make sure the tail is operating correctly

Tail motor rmp should increase with right rudder and decrease with left rudder - If not you need to reverse the rudder channel on the radio

Tail motor rpm should also increase when the heli is rotated counter-clockwise and decrease when the heli is rotated clockwise - If not then you need to flip the "norm/rev" switch position on the gyro

Ok guys i got the wiring all sorted, now i just gotta deal with the tail stopping issue.

I know this has been discussed before, I just can't seem to find the post.

Another question is with the HexTronik 10 Amp ESC I Don't seem to see any soft/Hard start options. I have the usb link and checked there, also I don't see it on the stick programing menu?

Any one have experience with this little ESC?

Thanks for all the help.

Brushless tail problems
Well with your help I think I might be a little closer. I've everything set the way you stated. The only way the motor spins is when I give it right hand rudder, not when I just move the thottle straight up. I've my gyro set at 50% for the delay and 100% for the limit. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this problem as this is my first attempt at a build.

Sounds good

I don't think you'll need any delay though - Had my delay at 0 and limit at 100

Brushless tail problems
Well with your help I'm might be a little closer. When I move the trim for the rudder all the way to the right on the tx it starts to work a little better, any thought for what to do next?

Shouldn't need any trim with the 401 - Are you sure it's in heading-hold mode and not rate mode?

Try just setting your gear channel '+' value to 45 provided you have the gear channel assigned to the gear switch and not gyro - The led on the gyro should light when in hh mode when theres no rudder input

Settings
Hey Mirco, I used your settings and it act about the same. I'm using two seperate speed controlers, one for the main and one for the tail. The company I purchase them from sail to cut the red wire that goes to the servo for tail if I was using one,he said I already had power from the main motor controler. Also my tail motor even with a large heat sink get so hot I can't touch it only after a few second. I hope this help you to help me figure this hot rod out.
