Then I figured that the power supply for the laptops would be enough to quiet down any noise from the generator.

You mean tthe power supply for the laptop will portect it from surges?

Would it be possible for you to try your laptop on the generator to see if it's going to work?

You want me to plug my laptop directly into the generator?

That's my thought. People run their laptops from the alternator in their car all of the time though.

Yes but the power is ran throught a battery, regulator and a fuse before it gets to the outlet. I'll bring it over and let you plug your laptop in. Would a surge protector work?

I was thinking an APC would in essence be a surge protector. We need to find something then.

I looked at my adapter and it said wide range 100-240 volts, so i guess you might be right Don. I'm working from the generator now. The laptop pulls 65 watts and and puts no load on the generator.

I'm sitting outside in the sun and my screen is almost invisiable. We will need a tent for these fore sure.

Especially outside in the sun on a beautiful day. How can it be bad?

I'm trying to decide if it's going to be worth the trip on Sunday. I figure some might have plans for the holiday.

That sounds like a great holiday plan. I'm sure the kids will appreciate a day without nitro fumes
