I have noticed my GPH346 tail does not give me enough authority to hold the tail steady during a quick vertical descend. I'm using an FY401 Gyro in HH mode with gain at 100% - no tail oscillation either.
The original tail rotor blades are the same 77mm (3") blades as found on the 30size Shuttle. It would be fair to assume that this tail rotor is just not big enough. It needs 13° pitch to hold the tail steady in a hover! That doesn't leave much to actually "control" the tail.

If you have a GPH, what tail blades (size) do you use?

Many Thanks

It's a while ago now, but I seem to remember using NHPs cut down to 90 mm. I used a Zona saw and a mitre box. I clamped a stop in the box so they both came out the same length.

I did try the 30-size NHPs (78 mm, I think) and had the same problems you're having.

Thanks Phil, that makes sense.

Looks like 80 mm are good for 30's
90mm are good for 50's
and 100mm are for 60's
