Results of 9303 Through DX7
Hello,
I had suggested that if one wanted the programming features of the 9303 or 10X but really, really wanted to go SS, they could connect the 9303 or 10X via the trainer ports to the DX7 and use the 9303 or 10X as the slave and the DX7 as the master. Set the DX7 to "Normal" trainer mode and insure the trainer switch stays engaged and you got it.

Well, I finally sat down and did some latency testing on a 9303 in 120 deg eCCPM mode through the DX7 with an AR7000 receiver. It looks like doing this adds approximately 30 ms of latency.

That puts the combo about right where the 10X is when using a PCM receiver (see TX/RX eCCPM Latency Test Results). So,

10X + DX7 same as 10X + PCM
9303 + DX7 same as 10X + PCM

There you go. These results are also valid for the AR6100 rx. Using an AR6000 will add about 17 ms more latency.

BTW, any swashplate dancing caused by SPCM doesn't happen either.

John, a sideline question:

Would a Stick Mode 3 master tx (a Stylus) translate correctly through a DX7 slave without changing the channelization in either tx?

GimbalFan,
Since the DX7 "blindly" passes seven channels through in the "normal" trainer mode, whatever channel assignments you have made remain exactly the same at the Spektrum rx end.

I can test with a Stylus as well. Maybe tonight. There will obviously be a latency impact compared to a Stylus with PCM receiver. I'm guessing around an additional 30 ms based on previous data.

No rush -- and thanks.

I'm still surprised that I can buy a DX7 in Stick Mode 1 but not in Mode 3, nor can one be changed to Mode 3 without significant mechanical modifications. Hopefully Spektrum will include this option in their next radio.
