The yellow and black out of an HDD Molex is your 12V. If its ATX you have to jumper pin 14 (green) to any black in order to turn it on if I remember correctly...

i've built one before and remember, red +5v, yellow +12v, black ground, orange +3.3, i remember blue and white were not used. but the one i built before had a seperate harness that ran to the power switch, this new one does not, on my old one it has a brown wire and a black one that run to the power switch. but i'm not sure on this new one.

Sounds like the one that requires you to short the green pin 14 to ground in that connector to turn on the PSU.

It was plugged in right? Green could be pin 14 based on the colors. Are you sure the PSU is good?

Maybe its just a momentary contact that turns it on? Sorry I don't remember exactly its been a while since I messed with this stuff. Try just shorting the two wires momentarily and see if that works.

i finally figured it out, on pin 11 there was two orange wires, one 18 gauge, the other a little bigger. turns out the smaller orange is a 3.3v sensing wire that has to be connected to a 3.3v source in order to keep power on. thanks for the help
