Having major problems with my tail, setup is as follows:
-"Mothed" Hummingbird FP
-Park 370 4100kv brushless w/ Thunderbird 18 ESC
-Feigao 12mm brushless w/ Thunderbird 9 ESC
-Telebee heading hold gyro (also tried G90 w/ same results)
Per Castle Creations, the TB ESC's are auto-calibrating, so I have to give full left then right rudder to set endpoints.
The problem is as follows- unless I set the gyro at approx 60% gain, the tail spins even when the heli is stationary and at neutral. With it set at 60%, the tail prop is still when the heli is stationary, however- once in the air, the tail whips like mad in 120 deg+ arcs and is not controllable.
Per Castle Creations, I need to adjust my rudder endpoints so that the esc sees the low endpoint at neutral stick. Can this be done on the DX6, and would it even work?
A few guys on rcgroups have given several suggestions as follows:
-Cut down the tail blade more as it is over-authorative considering the motor is around 5000rpm/v
-Try a v-tail mixer with one lead to gyro and 2nd to the aux channel on the rx
-Set up a mix slaved to the throttle channel
I have no idea what to do. My LHS is no help- they sold me the stuff but don't seem to want to assist. This bird will fly great, it is exceptionally smooth and the power is there, but the tail isn't.
If worst comes to worst, can I at least go with the gyro in rate mode and revo mix? I apologize, I am a bit of a noob when it comes to the deep programming issues and idiosyncracies of full separates. This was to be my first foray into same, and it is becoming a test in patience...
