Got a couple more flights with T-Rex today. I must have shot more than 50 autos today! The system works really well.

I don't have a scale to measure the weight difference but the torque tube drive if definitely heavier, my best quess is approx. 1/2 ounce. Not enough to affect trim.

Alan Sr. sent me a pm advising me to make sure the clamp screw is securely tightened. The carbon boom was a tight fit into the aluminum t/r housing, but I'll check the clamp screw again and drill and tap a hole into the housing and boom for a 3mm x 5mm screw.

If you want more tail authority, you might consider the upgraded tail holder mod. Since it is a little longer, it increases the effective length of your tail blades by a couple of milimeters or so, which is much more significant than it sounds. However, if you are running at least 2100 or more headspeed, I think tail speed will be plenty even for 3D.

fwiw...

Just got back from first flight on torque tube...Difficult to assess, as it's not a must have , but definitely smoother in tail maneuvers, and not as touchy to set up, as the belt has to be in a sweet spot in tension to work well without being noisy.
One thing for sure, If you don't lube your belt religiously, you'll certainly notice a big difference in auto hang time!

I don't know, mine felt alot more "locked in". Tail control was softer with the belt. The torque tube is crisp.

If you buy this upgrade expecting better tail performance or longer run times/more power, you will be very disapointed. The difference, if any, is not noticeable. The only real benifit is improved energy retention and quicker spool up during auto-rotation . If I didn't like shooting autos so much, I wouldn't have spent the $110 for this upgrade.

I bought the torque tube upgrade at Ready Heli. GrandRC, Modelfo's and Deetee Enterprises sells them also.

could you please list the individual parts if you have that info. i'd like to see if i could make a torque tube for the 600. this stems from a hot topic on the gasser forum. not sure if it would be a benefit but its still be fun to try and do. i think i could make a carbon one.
thanks
tom

Is Align going to add this to one of their 600 kits, so the TT comes from the factory?
