Received a new set of 600's today to replace the ones I sent back for not being up to the standard I'm use to seeing with other manufactures, weighed them right off, they were a hair less than a 1/2 gram apart. I was happy. Put them on the Koll to check the CG and again one blade is so far off it can not be properly CG'ed without adding weight to the master blade. When speaking with a rep from CYE it seems that he feels CG'ing is not an important factor, just slap them on and fly. I have always checked my blades for proper balance and CG on my Koll, 3 sets of V-Blades, 3 sets of TT 600's, 2 pair of MS 515's. They all CG'ed well enough not to move the bubble out of the marks on the Koll. Again, just like the last pair I sent back the light blade needs almost a half gram of weight placed at the root ( bolt hole ) to get it to CG properly matching the master blade. Rick

Howdy CY,

Question for ya... I have read up on the ATG and am thinking about it... question is with the Futaba 9CAP (not S) and the 9 chan synth rx am I going to have to change pitch channel, etc... or should it be a pretty easy setup? I've read the possibility of both. If you say its achievable with my radio I will get it and figure it out based on the spectacular support you guys provide here...

Suggestion, maybe scan and post a pdf of the instructions on your site or here... I usually like to RTFM before I buy something...

THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Koll balancer debate
Rick,

Your .5g off blades on Koll balancer(KB) is in fact perfectly balanced if they balance on your see-saw balancer.

The issue with KB was greatly debated back about 15 years ago thru h-list, and after examining the math, in the end, the designer of KB, Mr. Larry Koll admitted his theory behind the balancer was flawed. I still respect him for all his honesty and willingness to listen.

Remember that there is absolutely nothing wrong with KB itself. If the blades balance on KB, then the blades will be balanced. The problem with KB is that it can also say your blades are not balanced when it fact they are well balanced.

The real damage through this issue was that back then KB was one of few balancers available, and it was the most professional looking. Therefore, so many people believed the flawed theory in their heart that over the years, I could quietly see cascades of even more misunderstandings crop up again and again (not even related to blade-balancing) and this probably will never stop. I am sure this happens everywhere in human society.

I really do not wish to go through the math again , because some folks will never admit it no matter what. But if you can, please thrust me and other veterans here that your 0.5g off blades are FINE.

Regards,

-SK

Like I told you Rick, Curtis checked the CG on the blades you sent us and he found them to balance correctly. I even asked you if you had flown them and you said yes, and that they had flown fine. I think now that the second set has come back balancing incorrectly CG wise, it might have to do with the balancer. Our guys at the factory are very good about QC control and wouldnt let such an out of balance pair go to the customer. Rick have you flown them yet? If you did does anything in the flight characteristics show them being out of balance?
Also I never said that CG'ing wasnt an important factor, I just said sometimes the Koll can be misleading. Let me know about how they fly please.

I recommend our 105mm tail blades, those are the correct size to run for the vibe and 710 main blades. Also I believe the MP5 is within most noise limits for the models.

I am using the MP2 on few Helis, it works great, however - the mounting tends to crack too often, I already replaced 6 mountings through the past two years - is there an improved part ?

Thanks

Oz Goran,
Which part of the mounting is giving you problems? Also if its the header that is doing so, are you oiling the gasket with gun oil and tightening down properly, i.e. before the first flight and after as well? Let me know as when they are tightened properly with the gasket there are no breaking issues.

It is the header that breaks on the Muffler side, the screws tend to become loose during flight and then...

I did put a nut on the other side, it improves but still doesn't survive more then several months.

If you use a thin layer of JB weld between the header and muffler it wont come loose and also seals it good. You can still get it apart without any problem.DOUGYOU ONLY LIVE ONCE..IF YOU LIVE IT RIGHT THATS ALL YOU NEED

it might have to do with the balancer.
I don't think so, my balancer checks out fine with other manufacturers blades but yours.
Also I never said that CG'ing wasnt an important factor
Yes you did say that or I would not have posted it. Don't say one think on the phone and type another.

I figured the blades your sending me to replace the ones I'm not happy with would have been good enough to correct the issue I had with the last set, but no it seems like someone just grabbed a set off the shelve without checking them either. You say CG'ing is not a concern, ok that's fine but why do the other manufactures go the extra step then? Out of all the carbon fiber blades I have on hand and have had to compare your blades against your blades are the worst on the Koll balancer. V-Blades, TT, MS, from 700's to 515's. Hey, I'm done with it and done with Radix, I'll fly them and just keep your thoughts and recommendations in mind on future purchases.
I even asked you if you had flown them and you said yes, and that they had flown fine.
Trusting your Co. I put the blades on and flew them several flights right off during the setup and dialing in of my 620E, I did notice right off they were noisy as hell. This is what started me checking things to see how the blades compared to other I had on hand. The TT 600's are quiet, they balance and CG correctly, both set's I have of them. After checking the Radix blades I made the decision to send them off to you since out of all the blades I mentioned earlier, your brand were the ones falling short in CC it seemed to me. At least compared the blades that I have owned and had on the Koll.

If you don't feel like GC'ing your blades when manufacturing then that's great for you. I like to know I get what I pay for and that's a proper balance and CG of a matching pair of blades.

For heavens sake just return them and stop arguing... you have made it painfully clear (to at least me) that you think this company and its staff are morons and liars... point taken, we (forum members) get it, doubt you would argue this much in a brick and morter shop... I for one hate to see it drone on and on and on there wont be any solution other than you getting your money back.

Reason I comment... I cant get a post replied to (about presale ATG)because you are flaming the crap out of this thread for no apparent reason except to fight and take out your displeasure with this company.

Curtis folks... sent a PM since this blade debate has taken so much of the forum attention...

I have a copy of the instructions in my Gallery. Also we have update notes on curtisyoungblood.com in the Product info section for the ATG. It goes through setup options with the Futaba 9, 12 and 14.
