So after doing demo flights of the M200 off the stern of the Intrepid we when up to the flight deck to check out the aircrafts..

DJI and FPV Frequency sharing.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion regarding Video Frequencies between DJI pilots and FPV pilots as our airwaves becomes more crowded.

DJI products: Inspire 1 & 2, Phantom 3S and Phantom 4 all operate between 5.725 to 5.825 GHZ to transmit video. The popular DJI Mavic operates only on 2.4Ghz and does not interface with the FPV channels.

The normal operation of these DJI products is auto selection - the software picks the best frequency within their range to TX on. This frequency can change mid-flight and is not under the control of the pilot.

On this charts the Red indicates frequency where there is an overlay, the yellow indicates possible overlay (<20Mhz) and green no interference from DJI products.

As always speak to the other pilots on the field before flying.. We will investigate if DJI pilots can select one frequency for the duration of their flight

This only answers why the FPV racers are getting noisily signals and that the most DJI flyer had no clue what they are transmitting on.

The Video transmitting power is not listed. From what I read about some of the DJI products, they are transmitting 600mw. Quad racers use 200mw which is the max recommend wattage used to not interfere with the adjacent channels.

Club needs to have clear rules on how DJI will operate with the frequency band. FPV racers knew how not to interfere with one another and changing channels while racing. Now as more DJI owners are flying here they have been powering up without care which is a potential hazard.

If we are going to share the field, time limits will be needed to be enforce.

Does this mean quad racers can fly ten packs before DJI group can fly?
Quad racers run times are about 3-4 mins.
