Geo,
I would think so. I got a new standard size silver line a few months ago for $350... anyway, how do those things stand up to crashes? I figure unless it's from a reliable seller, since you're already spending the $$, just bite the bullet and get one nib.

225 Sounds good for the blue series
BTW they do stand up well in a crash.

Will try for a New Year flight.

George,
I did move forward on that scale heli. Working on the mechanicals first. Most parts are fab or purchased and will need to put it together.

Going to get the pod and boom together soon. Just got a few side jobs that needs attention first.

Logo is not mine , just a side job.

See you guys tomorrow morning.

Happy New Years!!!

Hey guys.

Since I last posted this project I've made some progress. Bought the fans, fans grills, upgraded power supply (my wife thanks Nycatt, because of the noise) and all AC electrical hardware. Now I just need some material to mount everything in. The case has standoff's. I'd like to use something clear like plexi glass. How and where can I get plexi glass cut like this? Or if you guys have another material idea??

Glad I can help
Khalil - I used 1/4" acrylic. Do a search for a Water Jet cutting machine shop. That's how mine was cut.

Nycatt that is perfect. Literally exactly what I'm looking to do. I was mistaken about my case, its a 1600 like yours, not the 1550. And these Meanwell's are a alot quieter, thanks. Got two brand new for $550

I'll find a Water Jet cutting machine shop in Brooklyn. Ok cool, sounds easy enough. I'll print these pic's out and bring the case with me to the shop? They should be able to take measurements? How much did they charge you?

Charger v3
This is how I did my charger. I have a max amps power supply running at 24 volts and another hp power supply running at 12 volts under the hood.
The 12 volt power supply powers the fans and the two side chargers. I'm planning on applying high heat paint to the masonite later on.

Very Nice John

The masonite shouldn't get hot with the fans venting. Take a look in Auto Zone. They sell a Carbon Fiber decal large enough to laminate the top and really give it a nice appearance. Just a thought.

Nice job indeed John. Masonite looks like another material option. I'm a materials noob. Is Masonite easy to work with? How did you cut/shape it for your case?

Question to both of you. How did you guys secure the board to your cases, or are they kind of floating on top of standoffs?

Masonite is much easier to cut than plexiglass. One tip I can give you is when you drill the holes for the fans, use a hole saw and put the drill in reverse. If you go forward with it, it will not give you a clean cut unless your drilling wood, then you go foward. The top to mine sits perfectly on the little molded standoffs on the case.

Al,
Thanks for the tip, the vynil cover will be much cleaner to apply than paint.

Kahlil,
I used a jigsaw to cut the masonite board. To round off the edges, I used a piece of cardboard to make the template then I traced it into the masonite. Then I sanded the corners down. The board floats on my case since I don't have a Pelican.
