It's close enough that I might be able to bring my B-b-q grill and do some beef and pork b-b-q during inbetween flights. (you heard that alex?!)

I'll be there. Looking forward to this one again. The first two years of this event were some of the most fun ever. Who remembers these?

1. Curtis was there and the head flew off his vigor and landed right beside me. It was windmilling down like a maple leaf.

2. The famous "Stewart" was there with his Mille - he flew in from North Dakota and I picked him up at the Lafayette airport.

3. The "rain of the raptors" was a hightlight. Every raptor 60 that flew crashed! There were even a couple of Asian factory pilots that were brought in to demo the raptor and they crashed theirs too, LOL.

4. Paul Soha was ripping it up with his minair heli. He blasted one in the dirt and did what seemed like a total rebuild and was back in the air a couple hours later - impressive pit work indeed.

5. Ronnie O - Ozinski mixed up a killer track and won the night fly competition with clips like Dirty Vegas "Days go by". Ronnie presented the flight to music style that is now part of the xfc and 3d masters.

6. Jeff Dickenson was there flying his raptor 60 - and yes, it did crash after the blades folded at around 200' in an auto.

7. Pete Niotis was perfecting his game and was flying a JR Vigor.

8. Jim "Hirobo" Stark was there with his Freya. Wow, the memories, the memories.

9. Mike Trueblood was there flying his miniature aircraft extreme with his usual grace.

10. The afternoon "Weed Whacking" was awesome with Ronnie O, myself and a few others.

11. Dave Story and Scot Cathey were there to represent JR. They put on a auto clinic with some of the most precision non-powered flight I've seen.

Eric Anderson and Ron did a great job with this fun fly and they are back to do it again. If you can make it to this one you'll have a great time.

See ya there.

Markie-Mark,

Hey great memories! Actually I didn't have much to do with the organizing of the Hooser Heli Rumbles. "The BigE" was the driver on those. I did put up the 100bucks cash for the night fly competition though for the first year. Loved the inverted tandem weed whacking we did. YEAH-BABY! Music...it's always about the HAIR and the MUSIC isn't it?!?!? I'm very happy to see the artistic value come out in todays flying, I knew the heli guys had it in them. THANKS!

AND you forgot 1 thing in your recap, that during the first year of the HHR we saw the LOWEST signature push over autos done by YOU! I remember standing on the flight line just watching you tear it up with your M/A heli. Loved those inverted t/r fin low push overs. You pioneered them dude! Then you and "wingtip" gave me a few pointers and showed me how to do them. That's what this hobby does for you! Feel the love...just as long as you keep your pants on when you stand next to me on the flight line! <ROFL>

Those Hooser Rumble FF's, less the IRCHA Jambo, are my favorite events for sure. I will be there god willing this year. Glad to see it's back!

Weed Whacking
Ronnie and Mark were generous enough to give me the cash for the weed whacking contest, even though I truly didn't deserve a single cent of it. The Raptor I used was my daily driver and only heli in my stable, though. I couldn't imagine how nerve wrecking that was going to be with so many people watching and cheering!!

I hope to be back again this year.

I remember the "rain of the raptors". I attended that meet just to decide if I wanted to move up to a 60 machine, as I had never seen one fly before. The falling Raptors didn't leave a good impression on me, to say the least.

I remember picking up Curtis' paddle and handing it back to him after his head departed from the Vigor. Yep, I touched Curtis' broken paddle. Oh, the spine tingling excitement! I realized that Curtis Youngblood feller was an actual human that was very approachable and helpful!

The Thunder Clapping sound that Pete Niotis' Vigor made when it mid aired with Greg's Raptor 60 was not to be forgotten. I remember Pete working on that machine all day to rebuild it from a crash only to have a mid air again the same day!!

I also recall Jim Stark pulling off some great duration autos with his new Sceadu 50.

I met Jim the J-rock Stark, Pete Niotis, Big D, Mark Fadley, Ronnie, Curtis, the Indy boys, RepoMan, Jeff Rankin, Scott Cathey, and many more top pilots at that event. I am amazed when I see how far this crowd has progressed since the last HHR. Too bad I have not

Imagine how I felt after that weekend of watching all of the above and more "fly it like they stole it" when I had never even seen a 60 machine fly before that event!!!

It will be nice to get back into the hobby this season, if all goes well.

Hey if you can make the trip to this years HHR from your new residence keep in mind we have tent space for you.

I hope all is well. Maybe we can do the old heli swap thingy for a flight or 2 and maybe the old blade swap. Miss those days.

Take care.

Paul & Ronnie,

Glad you're both going to be there. It's gonna be a blast for sure. Hey Paul, I saw your name on the Judges list for XFC this year. I'm sure you'll do a great job since you have so much experience competing in it. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there this year. It should really be great in Muncie.

Ronnie, you're killing me with the Lafayette memories! Keep your pants on, LOL.

Found this pic in my ircha files.

Things from the past
Hey Mark is this the same FF that you (or Jim Stark)gave me the country music to fly to for my Robbe Demo? I want to say it is. It sounds like it realy grew from there. Now this might be one to check out this year.

Hi mark,

I think it was in 00 or 01. It's funny becuase that year I pitted beside Pete,(before he was PETE) and he had a mid air. The other thing I remember is that it was Darn hot and humid. Coming from Colorado it was a smack in the face. This was a fun event. I have to see what I can do to make it. Need to talk to the accountant. Take care,

It has some basic information including a few area hotels and directions to the field. I will be updating the website with more information over the next month.

Hope to see you all there.
