Every once in a while I'll have my blades tracking and then on a next flight they won't track, sometimes I'll start the flying day with the blades not in track and then on the next flight they do track.

If I'm patient enough at the time I'll fix the tracking problem, but then the next flight the blades go out of track.

What the heck is causing this?

Not sure on the Rex, but I had this happen on a Raptor 50. The problem in my case was a bent spindle.

I had the same problem before and it turned out to be worn seesaw bushing. I replaced the bushings with some I pushed out of the inexpensive plastic seesaw and it worked great. Now I have the seesaw with the bearings. I have a picture of the worn bushing in my gallery on the trex page, check it out, the hole looks egg shaped.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

If the machine has some time on it, and NOTHING is loose or bent, then it's worn seesaw bushings.

if you are running the same headspeed everytime you check the tracking then i would venture a guess that the problem is not your blades but rahter something is worn or bent in your head.

check your dampener, spindle shaft, and the entire flybar assembly. ive experienced strange tracking problems and almost all of them were caused by some part of the flybar assembly. bushings. screws loose, something cracked, something bent.

Several things may fix this, add another oring to yourhead so then youll have 3, or go pick up the new seesaw with the BEARING in it. No more worn bushings.

The head has been in use for at least a year, and yes the whole assembly wobbles like crazy - very different from my brand new head.

Ditto: I had a new tracking problem after no crashes/modifications in my x400. Turns out the feathering shaft was bent, apparently from flight loads (flips, loops, rolls). Gonna get a better aftermarket shaft.

The problem is your heli. If you are flying a Align 450 Anything than its junk. You will spend 5X more time trying to get the blades to track VS actuall flying. I have come to the point where I dont fly it much, but when I do the blades are out of track. So I put a 4S setup on it so I wont loose so much power and just fly it with the blades out of track. What else can a man do!!...

there are millions WORLD WIDE who would disagree. just because you lack the proper setup skills and/or patience or have simply had bad luck does not mean everyone else has. thats a pretty broad stereotype. if its junk then why are you on these boards and why are you still flying a 450? i personally have only had tracking problems when something was physically bent or worn out. i diagnosed the problem and fixed it! problem gone. ive now flow my bird since my last crash about 30 times and have only had to strap batteries into it and remove them when they are dead.

I have had this happen on my 450 and the problem was solved by tightening the 2 screws that hold the mixing arms on to the rotor housing - these are the screws (well hidden) behind the mixer arms and are a little difficult to get to. Remove, re-Loktite, replace. This happens fairly often - especially after a crash

What goes up must come around

I've never had any tracking issues with my Trex 450 SE and a pair of a decent blades like SAB or Align REAL carbons.

Well this morning I flew the Trex with a stand by head, it is the original black plastic head for the XL. Whoa it's nice to have the head spinning smooth and the same blades did track perfectly.

When I inspected the Align metal head I discovered that the swiveling ball inside of the swash is worn out. I can move the swash side to side around the main shaft and there is definitely a gap between the main shaft and that ball in the swash plate.

So now it's off the refurbish this metal head. For now this black plastics head works fine.
