Press Func+ and Func- simultaneously like you do with the GY502/601. The gyro will display “BAD OPR.” Don’t be put off by the message… now press Data+ and Data- simultaneously and you are in.

They are talking about the hidden menu of the 601/611. The 'reset' function is contained within this hidden menu.

On the 601, to enter the menu the FCN keys are both depressed while powering up the unit. On the 611, this will cause a BAD OPR message. Pressing the Data keys simultaneously at this point bypasses this message and allows entry to the hidden menu.

The first screen you will see is HELLO, quickly followed by VER 2.01.

To find *RESET* you must move backwards one step with FCN -.

It will prompt you to be sure you really want to do a complete reset.

There are about 40 parameters in this menu, some of them not being adjustable - but rather being readouts or diagnostic type pages.

This is the meat of the unit's programming. If you were to change the unit F3C mode to 3D mode - you can watch the parameter changes in these various functions of the hidden menu.

It is quite complicated, and I've been able to decipher quite a lot of it , and in the process learned a lot about the programming of the 601/611. I'm in the process of compiling that all for a future post or article.

Good stuff Jerry, I can't wait.

The other practical use of this menu is if you need to run a servo other than the 9251/56 you can set the pulse width to wide so it wont fry a 9254.
