Im on 35Mhz cus im in the UK. Ive heard the Berg and Schulze are both good. Anything a little cheaper that is still reliable?

Berg DSP is definitely the way to go. It's priced very competetively over on this side of the pond.

Cool,

Just a quick query about crystals.

I have the rx crystal (sanwa) from my old Raptor 30, would this go straight in the Berg or would I need a micro crystal?

I believe you have to use berg crystals in berg receivers. I could be wrong but I vaguely recall them being proprietary.

I'm using a Berg Hyperion which works fine , but having done extensive range checks , I found that I got a hell of a lot more range using a JR RS77S synthesised PCM receiver (which also happens to be cheaper) . So even although the Berg has been flawless in operation , I wouldn't buy another one .
As for cyrstals for the Berg , I bought a genuine Berg crystal , but was told that JR crystals can be used instead .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Crystals always confuse me.

Would my tx crystal stay the same? And id then get a Berg one for the rx of the same channel?

Yes, you definitely don't want to change your xmiter crystal. Over here, technically, you're supposed to have your xmiter tuned by an expert if you ever swap out crystals on it.

The Berg III DSPs will even auto-detect the shift (Futaba vs JR) of your transmitter so you don't need to worry about that side of it either.

Hmmm, from doing a search it appears the Bergs are not available in the UK or on 35Mhz anywhere. Would this be correct?

I have read posts saying the Shulze range basically uses the same technology and is as reliable and impressive. Would this be correct?

I'd go with the JR...in fact I did! Have a look at my web site http://www.heliweb.co.uk and follow the link "TRex" for more detail

Shulze and hyperion use that berg technology . i got hyperion with no issues at all , the range is enough to fly a 450 size bird
maybe you could go with jr and a mile range but to be fair to the manufacturers 300 yards is enough .
hope this helps

Cheers for the advice guys.

They all seem to be about £45. Is this about right?

Does anyone know where a bargain can be had on any of the Schulze, Hyperion or JR?

Inwood models will be the best on the JR RS77S , but remember that being a PCM receiever , it will only work with a JR transmitter . My local models shop doesn't recommend the Align - or any other cheap receiver .

Be very carefull there ! The 146ip mini PCM is not a full range receiver . It might be fine in the Trex 450 , but I wouldn't risk it in a larger heli .
