I installed the PV0518 (8.7 Main gear and 11 tooth pinion) on my R50SE and it greatly improved the power performance of the heli.

new gears
Can you tell me if you use the 600 blades or the 620 blades?
At what head speed? Do you use the 30% nitro or lower? I'm thinking
of the up grade soon.

600 blades, 1950 on the head, and 30% nitro works great for me with the 8.7 gears.

I tried them, and they didn't suit me at all.

If you are used to running a high HS 2100 and over, then they may disappoint..

Thats because they are designed to keep the motor rpm up but the rotor rpm down.

So if you want a higher rotor rpm like 2100, the motor is going to be running to fast and probably about 18000rpm.

That PV0518 gear set is definitely the best upgrade for your money that you can make to a Raptor 50 or Titan. You really have to fly it to appreciate how much better it flies.

With the new gear ratio I am running 1900-1950 head speed. I have Radix 600's now and I have not had it bog down yet. This gear ratio is a great upgrade if you want to slow the head speed down yet still have all the "pop" you need.

I am running around 1950. Also, with the Kasama head, I am pulling +/-12 degrees with ease!

h/s
a year ago 1900hs was my ideal speed for a R30.
Now as I watch the Titan revolution and other R50 I don't think I would settle for less than 2100 h/s

highter gear ratio of 8.7 would lower the h/s for same engine rpm.
So on standard 600 blades i think the 8.5 is fine the hyper can easily accomodate it.

Maybe if you run > +-9 pitch and you seem to bog alot this new gear ratio may help you... (but reducing the pitch or managing it correctly is the logical solution)

running 620 blades will load the head more so this new gear ratio comes into its own then.

I smile, cause I've no idea what's going on.

I would much rather fly 1950 at +/-12 than 2100 at +/-9

1950 12
12degrees.. is they why you get bent spindles the whole time lol.

If you understood my post, I was talking about people running 12degrees of pitch and bogging the head! (by adding in cyclic and stalling the blades) to which I said learn how to use it correctly (as i guess you do) or reduce it. That's all.. if i could manage 12degrees myself i'd probably be at 1950 too.. who knows.

more power
you'll have more torque at the head, less head speed, but you engine will still have the same power.

I smile, cause I've no idea what's going on.

right I understand it will not have more power, but it will be spinning a higher rpm, I suppose it will FEEL like it has more power.
Am I correct in assuming that? I think I'll try it. I mean for what the gear set costs it's worth a shot..If not I'll keep em for when I kill this motor and get a hyper.

the TT50 IS a good engine. Your chances of killing it and a Hyper are the same. Same bearings same rod. The Hyper is often over hyped.

oh no doubt, Don't get me wrong I'm very pleased with this engine. I don't have any of the so called common problems (hard start, lean mid range, overheating). It just doesn't make power like a hyper. But for now I will continue to fly it. The reason I say kill it is, you always try and run the needle just a bit leaner to get the extra power b4 it overheats. That is a fine line especially with the TT50.
