I do love my Hyper for about 2 gal, of CP30. and then the bearing starts to make some nose. Then I have to replace them. I’ve tried the stainless races w/ ceramic ball, and stainless with metal balls. I’m running a gov, that keeps me at 1800rpm’s
I’m not ruining lean, I get lots of smoke, and I can leave my finger on the back plate all-day long. And I’m not the only one at our field with this problem.

Dimmit..I can stop this anytime I want..no..really I can

I feel your pain scamp. Worse of all, hobby services has no interest in working with us to solve it.
With that said, I am waiting to hear some reports on the new webra 55 just released. If it is anything like my plank webras, it should have tons of power.

I just replace it every 3 or 4 gallons...it's a pain, but this is the motor with the best power so far, and for that power I am willing to pay.

Do the crank mod and you won't have to be replacing any more bearings. You can get a Power Point file on how to do so on my Homepage down by the bottom of the page. The bearing failure is due to rust that forms on the bearing. This is caused because of the webbing on the OS crank being so close to the bearing that it traps moisture between the webbing and the bearing. Remove the webbing, remove the problem. If you do not have Power Point, you can go to Microsofts site and get a free reader version.

I'm running the Webra 55 in my R50, easy to setup, likes low nitro fuel, in fact at the moment I'm using up my 5% Model Technics fuel that I got for someone who now doesnt want it.

Runs orsome on 10%, I usually mix my own fuel.

In fact I like it that much I now have three!!!

I don't want to re-start the age old difference of opinions ( argument ) but do you run the engine dry after the final flight of the day? I only ask as my hyper used to eat bearings after around 5-8 galloons ( 20% magnum ) when I did that, so I decided to stop doing it and since then my bearings are lasting more like 30 gallons of fuel. All I do now is end my last flight with the fuel very low in the header clamp off the fuel feed to the carb and tun the engine over for a few seconds with the starter then drain the remainder of the header and dispose of that fuel then leave it alone till the next time I fly.
If you are getting through bearings as fast as you say then it will not take long for you to get your own results of either run dry or not.

1. R50 Robbe (raptor stock) type muffler
2. R50 titan boom 620 blades, MP2
3. R50 SE stock muffler

No 1 has been flying since the end of summer, very pleased with the performance with low nitro, and I am running on the rich side.

No 2 has had about 1/2 gal through it, so is very rich but the blades didn't make a lot of difference in engine performance, from what I am comparing with the R50 stock setup.

Thanks daren,

Did you have to "open" up the holes on the mufflers? It was my understanding that the spacing was different than OS?

Yes had to do all 3 mufflers. Its not a problem through its only a few mill out just wide enough to screw the bolts through. I didn't want to take a file to the MP2, but when I did the other two its not to much of a deal, the mp2 comes with nuts anyway, and I always put nuts on anyway, since my early days when mufflers used to fall off my Nexus!!
