I'm setting up a C5 for a friend. He did the build, his first,
and while setting it up I noticed the belt was way looser than
mine. He's got a TT50 in it. Do they have a thinner beam mount
than the OS? Seems like it needs to be shimmed to tighten the
belt some. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

I just happen to have an OS 50 Hyper and a TT 50 sitting on my bench for two new helicopters. I checked the beam mounting lugs and they are machined flat and line up dead center with the crankshafts on both engines. That would be the reference line, no matter how thick the mounting lugs are. I would say, if you needed to take up some belt slack, your friend might have to place a shim matching the mounting lug with holes/ or 4 washers UNDER the lugs where the bolts pass through to the motormount. A custom made shim matching the beam would offer more mounting stability.

I assume you're referring to the belt between the clutch and the countershaft. Shim all you want, but it's not necessary. It works flawlessly as is.

Don't imagine problems where none exist.
