Hey Gary. The Sig seems a little small for a duty gun. Is that typical? What do you carry now?

The Sig P250 can be purchased as a sub-compact, compact, or full size grip frame. I will be getting the compact frame with the 3.9" barrel. This is comparable in size to the Sig P229 that many departments currently use. I carry a Sig P226 (.40 cal.) now. It is a great gun but it is a bit heavy after a 12-16hr day. The lower weight of the P250 will definitely be more comfortable.

Thinking of picking up a Springfield XD-45 Tactical. Anybody got one and what do you think?

I just got the XD 9mm standard length version. Have 300 rounds thru it so far.

Pretty nice. Basically an improved glock by all accounts. Better grip angle and fit, better slide release for easyer take down. The slide rails are bigger and fit a bit better. Comes with a cheap but perfectly functional plastic molded holster...

My brother has the XD-45 and the XD9mm standard length versions. Loves em. I've shot the 45 a few times, no complaints.

I am planning on selling off my glock now that i have this XD. Possibly getting that Isreali arms Baby Eagle. Weighs a bit more, but seems like a real sweety for that ~450$ price range.

I have a CCW...
Like most I went for the big stuff... The DE 44mag, Rossi 44LC, Ruger P45, Kimber custom 1911, a couple of 40's None of these were good carry guns...

Depending on my mood and what I am wearing I now have 3 Glock 19, Turus ultra light 38sp, and my favorite Walther p22.. I really like the 22's now so I am going for a Sig Mosquito to replace the Walther.

My favorite load is the 45acp The Ruger P45 was the lost accurate 45 I have ever shot but I did not like the old style. I am also thinking of trying the newer style but I am done with buying to find out I dont like it so I am waiting for the local range to get some in to rent..
I don't give a damn whether deer slugs are legal for self-defense or not. In the extremely unlikely event that using that weapon becomes necessary, I'm fine dealing with the aftermath no matter what, since as a result I'll likely be ALIVE to deal with it rather than DEAD and regretting my choice of ammunition.
No comment on that but a bird load in a shot gun for HD will do the job and not rip though a wall and kill someone else...Size does not matter if you know how to use what you got
