Ive been working on hovering for about a month now. My question is once i start hovering say about 2ft, do i need to give any throttle to maintain a hover?

Thanks for all input/advice

Hi!
I'm a n00b but I think I can answer your question...You might need to adjust the throttle a little on a regular basis to hold your altitude, but if everything is trimmed out correctly you should be able to let go of the sticks for a few seconds and it will stay in place. Now, you don't really need to let go of the sticks to prove that, since that might cause an accident, but what I'm getting at is that you can increase your throttle a little to climb to a slightly higher altitude, and once it gets stable it should pretty much stay there.

Does that make sense? I'm not quite sure I understand the question so I hope this helps.

On a practical basis in the real world, the throttle/collective requires constant adjustment to try and maintain an even height.

As the wind hits the heli it adds to the lift in the blades so heli wants to climb, so reduce throttle a little. Wind changes so throttle altered again, and so on. If you get one of those rare days, (in the UK anyway ) when there is no wind all, maintaining a constant height is not so much a problem.

The other variable is the power taken by the tail, when you feed an input in there. Depending on rotation of blades and tail rotors, the heli will fall slightly in one direction and climb in the other.
